Since Disney World is closing today from the Coronavirus outbreak, many people may be wondering what’s going to happen to all the food in the parks.

Disney is already one step ahead and ready to help out the community during this difficult time.
Just like Disneyland has been doing, Disney World will be donating its excess food inventory to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

Food like fresh salads, greens, and cooked hot items will be given to the community through the Disney Harvest program. In case you didn’t know, Disney Harvest collects the parks’ excess and unserved food to donate and even distributes more than 823,000 pounds of food annually!

We’re happy to see Disney not only protecting its guests, but giving back to the community during this difficult time. We will continue to keep you posted on the latest Disney Coronavirus updates!

This is a brilliant move from Disney and great to see. I wonder whether they could utilise unused dining plan credits in this way too – how many people don’t use all their meals/snacks – this would be a real benefit to those in need and happen throughout the year rather than all in one go? ☺️
