Cassian Andor, Diego Luna’s hardened rebel leader from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is set to return to the screen as part of Disney’s push for more Star Wars programming on Disney+ !

Luna, along with co-star Alan Tudyk (K-2SO) will star in the new prequel series, which follows Cassian and K-2 in the early years of the rebellion, before the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

Rogue One tells the story of a group of rebels who, at great personal cost, manage to secure the plans to an Imperial superweapon… you know the one.

This new series would follow Andor and reprogrammed droid K-2SO on their initial missions for the Rebellion, placing it roughly concurrent with the Star Wars: Rebels animated series. This would be the second of three announced Star Wars live action projects, including runaway hit The Mandalorian, and the as-of-yet unnamed Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

All three series are part of the same expanded canon as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Resistance, featuring recurrent elements like the Mandalorian Darksaber and former padawan Ahsoka Tano as connecting elements to distinguish them from the Skywalker-focused films.  Elements from Rebels, such as Chopper the astromech, made cameo appearances in Rogue One.

Luna’s last appearance as Andor was in Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire at The VOID, where he provided the pre-show briefing. K2-SO also appears throughout the attraction. While there is no official release date yet, we are hopeful that we will get more information as the series begins filming!
