Rise of Skywalker will be the end of an era as the third movie in the third Star Wars trilogy (triple trilogy?). This week Empire magazine kept the countdown to December 20th rolling when they revealed their new set of Star Wars covers. Inside this issue of Empire, there are also exclusive photos and tidbits from the upcoming film. The four new Empire covers feature the main cast from this recent trilogy, a few new characters, and even a few classic. The first features the younger Resistance heroes, Finn, Rose Tico, Rey, and BB-8, and the classic hero, Chewbacca. It also offers a good look at two new characters, Jannah and the small droid D-0. There’s just something a little wrong about seeing these rebellious heroes with the word Empire above them.

The second cover shows two of the remaining resistance leaders, Poe Dameron and General Leia. There are also three classic characters we can’t wait to see more of, R2-D2, C-3P0, and Lando Calrissian. we are especially excited to catch up with the charming Sabacc playing smuggler that is Lando Calrissian. He’s still rocking that cape after all these years, and it totally works.

There has probably never been an Empire cover where the word empire has felt more fitting. This third cover features the Supreme Leader of the First Order, Kylo Ren. Behind him are the mysterious Knights of Ren referenced in The Force Awakens. We wonder where Kylo’s number two, General Hux, is.

Subscribers to Empire get an exclusive cover featuring Kylo Ren and Rey’s lightsabers over each other with the Emperor’s face hidden in the background. What could this mean? Does it mean that only together they can bring balance to the Force? We’ll just have to wait until Rise of Skywalker is released on December 20th to find out.

This issue of Empire also comes with a special Skywalker Saga magazine, featuring the Skywalker twins on the cover. This bonus magazine chronicles the Skywalkers and their journey from slaves and humble moisture farmers to galactic rulers and rebel generals. Included are interviews with cast and crew, behind the scenes photos from all nine films, and more. For those who haven’t seen the trailers that have been released and prefer to be surprised, we recommend you don’t read any further.

If you’re still with us, you have been warned. Inside the Skywalker Saga bonus magazine, there is an exclusive art card featuring an illustration of Dark Rey by Rory Kurtz. She’s giving off real Asajj Ventress vibes.

We will definitely be picking up all of these covers to feed our Star Wars hunger until Rise of Skywalker is released in a few short weeks.
