Three Changes Announced at Disney’s D23 Expo That We Can’t Wait to See!

Maybe you’ve reached your quota of D23 news posts, but with so much to cover, we haven’t! Of all the changes that are coming to the Disney Parks around the globe, these are the top three that we CAN’T WAIT to see!

Epcot’s Transformation

Dear Epcot, is it possible that we can close our eyes and just have your Park-wide changes magically appear? Please?

Not only are we excited to see the new neighborhoods of World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Nature; new attractions like Mary Poppins and Journey of Water; and delicious dining at Space 220 and Le Creperie de Paris, but we’re also a little anxious about the in-between.

All this change surely means construction the likes of which we have not seen in a still-open Park, and we are ready to skip right over it.

But let’s focus on the positive: some of the changes coming to Epcot will come soon-ish! The new Awesome Planet film arrives in the Land pavilion in early-2020, and Space 220 opens in winter 2019!

Still, we can’t wait!

Eleuthera and the Disney Wish

If you’re a Disney Cruise Line fan (or you’re an aspiring DCL cruiser), the announcement of a new Disney-owned and -managed island in the Bahamas likely made an impression. Imagineer Joe Rohde was on hand for the announcement, which means some seriously thoughtful and artful design awaits itineraries that pull into port at Lighthouse Point!

But DCL new didn’t stop there; Disney also announced that the fleet’s fifth ship will be called the Disney Wish, and the character on the ship’s stern will be Rapunzel and her sidekick Pascal (so, like, two characters for the price of one stern!). We’re excited to see if Rapunzel’s zest for life and artistic lightness is felt throughout the ship!

Star Wars: Galactic Supercruiser

In Resort news, the name of the Star Wars hotel was announced — and we can’t wait to see how this immersive experience unfolds! Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser welcomes guests for itineraries similar to a cruise ship. Guests arrive together, stay on-board with a port excursion (to Batuu, of course!), and enjoy entertainment and food that’s included with the price.

While on the Halcyon (the name of the titular starcruiser), guests can train with lightsabers, learn how to operate the ship’s defense systems, and hang out with recognizable characters like Chewbacca and Rey.

A stop into Galaxy’s Edge and decisions made on-board will help to influence the experience guests have on the Halcyon, so if you check in, be sure to tread carefully and make the right alliances!

So much NEW coming to the Disney Parks and Cruise Line, we can hardly stand the wait! But in the meantime, we’ll keep chasing down details to hold us over!
