ABC just announced an all-star tribute and cast for The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live! celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary. The special will air on ABC on November 5, 2019 at 8:00 to 10:00 pm EST.
The special will honor and celebrate the animated classic with performances from a live cast interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film.
This will be a first-of-its-kind hybrid format, featuring detailed sets and costumes, along with music from the original animated film and the Tony Award®-winning Broadway stage version, composed by Alan Menken. In addition to Howard Ashman’s iconic film lyrics, Glenn Slater—the lyricist for the Broadway adaptation—will also contribute to this special event.
Auli‘i Cravalho will star as Ariel in the live studio production of The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live! Fans may recognize Cravalho as the voice of Moana.
Oscar®-nominated and Grammy®, Golden Globe®, and Emmy® Award-winning R&B artist, actor, and producer Queen Latifah will be taking to the stage as Ursula.
Reggae musician, singer, DJ, actor, and Grammy-winning artist Shaggy will try to keep Ariel in line as he plays Sebastian.
