Contributing photographer Jason of disneygeek.com sends us these photos from his trip to the parks on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

Disneyana has moved into the former Gallery Location in the Bank of Main Street and the Gallery has moved next door to a portion of the Opera House Lobby. The Gallery now had an exhibit for the Tiki Room’s 50th anniversary.

  1. any chance of the exhibit traveling to WDW? California’s a long flight to see that but Orlando’s just drive for me. And I could always use a Dole whip as I walk around the exhibit.

The Disney Gallery Exhibits have not managed to find their way East to Walt Disney World. The merchandise usually does but I cannot recall any of the exhibits so I am assuming this will follow that course and be a Disneyland Only one too.

  2. We made three trips to the Tiki Room partnered with two Dole Whip purchases a couple of weeks ago. We then became far poorer by heading over to the Disneyana store to buy the paper clip holder and post cards. We stopped in there twice and the cast member remembered our stalking, er, visit from the day before. 🙂
We also found an anniversary Tiki Room pin set at Westward Ho in Frontierland (thank goodness for the Disney Visa discount)! We stopped by this exhibit as well at the Disney Gallery and willed the barker bird to talk, but alas, he did not. We got some good photos though!

  3. You know Jason, I wasn’t intending to head to DL this year but I love the Tiki Room and I really might have to. Look at all this money you’ve made me spend 😉

I wish they had the barker bird out front. I’d love to hear him.

I agree, or at least have the audio track playing near the display case so you can imagine the bird in action.

  4. Hi,

Great photos! Any idea how long this exhibit will be on display?

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

No end date has been announced but usually the exhibits run 4-6 months.

  5. I remember seeing this attraction when it was new. It was so stunning as we’d never seen anything like it before. I was only between 10 & 11 at the time, but it was really magical to me. I also remember seeing Uncle Walt showing us how this new “audio-animatronics” works, on the old Wonderful World of Color show on Sunday evening.
