“New” Way to Start Your Magic Kingdom Day

Beginning January 9th, guests will be allowed to enter Main Street U.S.A. earlier than the park’s stated opening time.

Then at the official opening, a new welcome show will open the park for the day. A Royal Herald will appear and deliver a proclamation welcoming everyone including a few characters to the stage.

  1. I feel moving the Opening Ceremony away from the main entrance diminishes the specialness and warmth of this small but powerful act. It was arriving and having the doors open for you in a very welcoming way. ‘We’re glad to see you, come on in’ will get lost.

  2. If everyone gets in at 8am does this mean the end of extra magic hours in the morning at MK?
    Is it every day or only on the non extra magic morning hour days?

    Deb: First, folks didn’t get in as early as 8am. Also, they were held at the end of Main Street U.S.A. My guess for EMH, that resort guests will be let into the areas with the attractions.

  3. Of course the new opening will replace the Characters on the Train; they have to because I remember reading in a recent AllEars newsletter that the trains were closing for refurb. What better reason to create a new “rope drop”! Besides, the best thing I love to do in MK is walk down Main Street while the park is empty – how peaceful. And you’re that much closer to your first FastPass ride!

    DEB: My understanding is it does replace the Characters on the Train. I hope to be there Monday and will update everyone.
