Magic Kingdom

Mickey's Pirate and Princess Party: May 2, 9, 16, 21, 26, 31 -- Embark on a quest for beads and treasures immersed in a world of pirates and princesses during "Mickey's Pirate & Princess Party" at the Magic Kingdom. Pick up a treasure map and bag, then choose your course of Princess or Pirate.

Toy Story Mania - Coming in late May 2008 to the Disney's Hollywood Studios. There will be Passholder Previews for Toy Story Mania in Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday, May 10 through Monday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. To be admitted to the sneak preview, just present your valid Walt Disney World Annual Pass and photo ID at the attraction's entrance.

Memorial Day Soccer Shootout - May 23-26

The Disney Channel Games 2008 will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex April 28 - May 3, 2008. The taping will feature a Disney Channel Games Concert on Saturday, May 3 with performances by the Cheetah Girls, the Jonas Brothers and other top Disney Channel performers. Tickets will be available to the general public for this event. For more information visit www.dcgames2008.com Gates will open for the concert at 7 p.m. on May 3, with an anticipated end time of 11 p.m. (Performers are subject to change without notice. Note that this event is a TV production/taping and there will be some down-time and potential delays.)

In mid 2008, Downtown Disney will sport a new themed dining experience -- T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure, A Place to Eat, Shop, Explore and Discover®. The restaurant will be home to life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, a dig site and much more. The table service restaurant will feature waterfalls and geysers, and, as the name indicates, there will also be a retail shop.

June 2008

Star Wars Weekends - will be held every weekend in June: June 6- 8; June 13 - 15; June 20 - 22; and June 27 - 29.

In addition to actor Warwick Davis, who will host all four weekends, the following will be featured (subject to change):

June 6-8: Jeremy Bulloch ("Boba Fett") and Daniel Logan (young "Boba Fett")
June 13-15: Peter Mayhew ("Chewbacca") and David Prowse ("Darth Vader")

June 27-29: Jake Lloyd ("Anakin Skywalker" in Episode I) and Dave Filoni (director of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars")

Six N Sun Soccer Fun 6/13-15/2008

The state-of-the-art Jostens Center is set to open this summer. The multi-sports field house is expected to host events such as basketball, volleyball, wrestling and martial arts, allowing Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex to double the number of indoor events that can be held at the facility. The venue will encompass more than 75,000 square feet. In addition, Jostens Center will offer personalized memory books and other memorabilia to recognize athletic achievements and preserve memories for the teams and athletes that compete at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

UNofficial Gay Days in Orlando - Typically the first weekend in June -- this is NOT a Disney sponsored event. It is an annual gathering in Orlando with designated park days. There are two websites to get information: http://www.gaydays.com/ and http://www.gayday.com/

Disney Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament 7/15-20/2008

Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin preparing for the 2008 NFL season with the start of training camp in late July at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. This will mark the seventh straight year the Bucs have held training camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, the leading venue for amateur and professional sports in the country. Once again, Bucs training camp practices will be free and open to the public during the team's three-week stay at Disney. There will also be periodic autograph opportunities with Bucs players and coaches each day.


August 2008

Epcot

The "Sounds Like Summer" concert series, featuring a lineup of "tribute" bands covering tunes from Elton John, The Eagles, The Supremes, Bon Jovi, U2, the Bee Gees and many more, will begin June 9, with shows nightly through August 10. All performances will be at the America Gardens Theatre in Epcot, and are included in Epcot admission. Performers and specific dates will be announced soon.

"Royal Quinceanera Weekend", for Hispanic girls celebrating their 15th birthdays. (In Latin America, a girl's 15th birthday, or quinceanera, marks the transition to becoming a young woman.) Several special events will be held at Epcot August 29-September 5, including a quinceanera ball on August 30, along with a private viewing of IllumiNations. Disney began offering quinceanera party packages last year, ranging in price from $1,800 to $20,000. With this formal, themed weekend Disney will compete with similar quinceanera-themed cruises and other specific-timed events offered by some cruise lines and other vacation resorts. Disney's Hollywood Studios

Tickets go on sale March 14, 2008, for this year's Night of Joy concerts, to be performed September 5 and 6. One-night advanced purchase tickets are $44.95; tickets are $49.95 on event day, if available -- event often sells out! A two-night ticket is available in advance for $75.95. NOTE: This year the contemporary Christian music event moves to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Disney's Wide World of Sports

The Inaugural Expedition Everest Challenge will take place September 27, 2008, in the shadows of the attraction's Forbidden Mountain. The new 5K race includes obstacles and a search for clues, leading to stamps in an Expedition Passport, all while avoiding the abominable snowman, the Yeti. An exclusive after-hours party at Animal Kingdom will be held at the conclusion of the challenge. Registration for the event begins February 15. A two-person team can register for $195; solo trekkers pay $100. Each registrant will receive a one-day, one park ticket, a Champion Tech-Shirt, a three-month trial subscription to Men's or Women's Health; admission to the exclusive After-Hours Party, and a commemorative Inaugural Medal for all Finishers. Super Soap Weekend - The 13th annual ABC Super Soap Weekend presented by Colgate Total will be held in Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park November 15-16, 2008. Stars from the ABC Daytime dramas "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital" will participate in meet-and-greet autograph and photo sessions, celebrity motorcades, star conversations, interactive games and more. No further details have been confirmed as yet.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Although this fan event has been held Veteran's Day weekend in the past, all official releases so far indicate that it has been moved this year to the weekend of November 15-16.

Disney's Wide World of Sports

The Inaugural 2009 Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend will be held March 6-8, 2009. The Disney Princesses are the inspiration for the weekend's events, designed for women of all ages, focusing on the attributes every princess possesses: commitment, courage, determination, fantasy, perseverance, and strength. The weekend includes: Disney's Fit for a Princess Expo, a Family 5K, Kids' Races and the Disney's Princess Half Marathon. Entry fee for the half marathon is $120, and is non-refundable and non-transferable. Race day registration is not available. Two-Person Team Entries for Mother/Daughter; Sister/Sister; Open Division are $10 team fee plus the cost of each individual registration. Half Marathon finishers will receive a special Princess Tiara medal. The half marathon will follow a new course, including the Richard Petty Speedway, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. Entry fee for Disney's Princess Family 5K is $40; for the Kids' Races is $10. Registration opened yesterday, May 5. More information is available at disneysports.com under "Headline Events."
