Review of California Grill

California Grill has always been one our favorite places to eat when we visit Disneyworld. The food is outstanding and the service has always been top notch. We know this restaurant has become popular with families because of the dining plan. As a result, the atmosphere in the restaurant has changed over the years. But, after our experience at the California Grill last night we our eliminating it as a stop on future Disney visits. We requested to be seated in the Wine room as it always seemed to be a quiet haven inside the restaurant. As we entered the room we were nearly knocked down by two young children having a race around the table. The hostess had to ask the parents to have their children take their seats. We were seated next to a family with two older children who appeared to be behaving appropriately for their age and surroundings. As usual, the service was outstanding and the food was fantastic. Everything was going great until the two children at the table next to us decided to have a burping contest. The took turns seeing who could burp the loudest. Both parents were on their phones and appeared to be oblivious of their children's behavior. The contest ended when their server brought the check to the table. The parents never intervened.
When you visit a restaurant of this caliber and expense you have certain expectation about the experience. If you like great food, service and views California Grill is the peace to go. But, be aware of what else may come with this experience. After last night, we will be spending our dining dollars elsewhere.

Pros:

Food, service, view

Cons:

Uncontrolled children

We were there on October 9, 2015. We only ordered Lafou's Brew. We love this drink! It is a frozen drink and really hits the spot on a hot and humid FL day! There isn't much seating. We were lucky enough to get a table for four, but I am sure on a super crowded day you would be hard pressed to find a seat. The theming is really cute, too!

Pros:

Lafou's Brew

Cons:

lack of seating

A group of 9 of us went on Oct. 20th ranging in age from 30-71. We had no trouble getting a table for 9 at Harbour House to eat, no trouble getting 9 on a ride, no trouble finding 9 spaces to watch parade! Our longest wait for a ride was 20 minutes for Peter Pan which, as you know, is not long at all!! I notice some people complain about crowds--well, it is a theme park and especially after a parade or fireworks there will be crowds, but all-in-all not that bad. We had no small children so therefore no waiting in line to see a character which, from what I read, can be long. We had our picture taken at Haunted Mansion, the photographer clicked the wristbands and voila! Great photos! (also had photos taken at other places) but Haunted Mansion photos have ghosts hitching along 🙂 The weather was wonderful which, of course, adds to the fun so I totally understand my friend who went on a day with downpours was not happy! But, I told her, there is always next year!! Go! Enjoy!

Everything

Review of Port Orleans Riverside Resort (Moderate Resort)

We planned our 48th anniv. celebration around being healthy, but my husband injured his knee the day we left. So, the first 3 days of our 7 day vacation he spent in bed with ice on his knee. Fortunately the room was lovely, quiet and very clean. EVERYONE we dealt with, from Annette at the check-in desk, to the folks at concierges services who helped me cancel fast passes and rearrange reservations, to the very efficient MouseKeepping staff was WONDERFUL. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between the Riverside Mill and our room in Bldg. 85. This meant I got to enjoy the lovely scenery and watch some of the constant maintenance that keeps the grounds so beautiful and the pools so clean. The entire resort is quite large, but all things considered, that is a good thing as it helps you walk off all that great food! Don't forget to try Boatwright's Dining Hall - The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxing after a day at the hectic parks.
While the resort itself is large, we never had to wait very long for a bus or a boat. I highly recommend this resort.

Pros:

Lovely, clean room, great staff

Cons:

large

Review of Backstage Tales at Animal Kingdom

We always wondered about how well the animals were cared for and on October 5th we found out: better than many people care for their pets! And, that's no small feat considering the size and variety. Our guides, Mark (really great!) along with Gary, and drivers Kelly and Mitchell were all knowledgeable, extremely polite and helpful. From the elephant "showers" and play yards, to the surgical suites, to the kitchens where the food is prepared - everything is done with extreme cleanliness and precision. We got to see the tiniest birds up to the elephants and rhinos. The food was grade A quality - no bruised apples or bananas for these guys. Really worth the price!

Pros:

Really, Really interesting!

Cons:

no photos!

We make it a point to eat here every year and we have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful and the service fantastic. This year we had Byron N. who was attentive and fun. They always give us more than we can finish, especially if you want to have desert - make sure you save a little room! The Cherry and Vanilla cokes are tasty. It is a little crowded, but depending on who your neighbors are, it can be fun.

Pros:

Consistently Great Food, fun place

Cons:

a little crowded

Review of Plaza Restaurant

We decided at the last minute to visit MK on a Saturday because there was no Halloween party that nigh. It took a while, but I finally got an ADR for dinner on Saturday On Oct.3rd at the Plaza Restaurant. I had heard mixed reviews about how it was a "sandwich shop". We were pleasantly surprised with the Meatloaf plate. It was delicious! The desert was so fantastic, I wish we could have carried it back to our hotel. Our waitress, Lisa was very attentive, informative and helpful. I plan to make it a regular on any future trips!

Pros:

Wonderful food!

Cons:
