We stayed a few days at the DVC Beachclub Resort to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival. We loved our location, but a little surprised that the room was a tad "worn" looking. For the price/points one pays for this upscale resort, they should really update the rooms. We could see water damage in the bathroom. So obvious that we wondered why it hasn't been noticed and fixed. Overall beautiful resort and location to Food and Wine Festival.

We always love staying at the AKL. Resort is beautiful, clean, and great cast members. The only negative was that the room had an odor of mildew that never really went away. We were only staying a few days, so we didn't complain. It would not keep us from staying there again.

We got a reservation while standing in line for Buzz Lightyear on our recent trip(Oct. 6). We were in line at Buzz at 11:15 and I got a 12:00 reservation. We were tired of burgers and chicken nuggets and wanted something different. So on a whim I decided to try for a reservation. I was totally shocked to get a reservation like that. We arrived early and were seated within about 2 minutes. The place was totally empty.
I had eaten here many years earlier. The reviews I read were mostly negative but it was something different. The food was actually pretty decent. I had chicken parm and my son had a flat bread pizza. Both were good. One must keep in mind that this is Italian food in a theme park. So you may need to adjust your expectations to the food is good instead of wow!
We were seated outside on the veranda which was nice. We got to watch a parade. Overall, the experience was a good one and we will return.

I have been wanting to try the Mickey pancake from here since I was very small and saw it on a Disneyland Fun Sing-Along video. I finally got the chance on 9/28. We ate breakfast around 10am. I'm happy to say that our breakfast experience was much better than our dinner there the night before!
We ordered the Mickey Pancake and the Cinnamon Roll French Toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. Thankfully there was indoor seating available, as it was already quite hot outside. No line to order, but I did have to wait a few minutes for my pancake, as they were making them fresh.
The food was very good! One of the custodial cast members at the restaurant stopped to talk to us for several minutes when he saw my mom's first visit button. I wish I could remember his name because I appreciated that he went out of his way to chat.
My pancake was everything I'd been hoping it would be for the last 20 years or so-definitely worth the wait! We absolutely recommend RBT for a nice breakfast!

Until 3 weeks ago our friend who went there said you have to try the Maya again, so we did WOW what a change. Thank you Randel the mgr and thank you Vivianna our server. Randel visited each table, the menu changed back to great, Vivianna was just wonderful.
The food was tasty and with great flavors back up in our top 5.Going back in Jan.for our biannual tour.We will be back.
By the way, through the years we learned Disney web will say its booked, but if we showed up at the resturant, we got right in at the Maya grill.

We dined here for brunch on 9/30. Our ADR was for 11am, but we arrived around 10:30 and they took us right away. This was our favorite meal of our trip!
Goofy was participating in the little parade around the restaurant when we checked in, so we did need to wait a short while to get our photo taken with him. The folder with our photos (included with Photopass+) is very nice and sturdy, and included several pages with recipes from the buffet and "anecdotes" about Goofy and his family.
The buffet was decked out with Halloween decorations, which was a nice touch. This included various pumpkins, spider webbing, as well as decals on the glass above the dishes and on the walls. The buffet had an extensive amount of food offerings!
There were the usual pastries and muffins, assortment of fruits, yogurts, and cottage cheese, Mickey waffles, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, and eggs for breakfast.
For a lunch selection, they had green salad and toppings, bagels with lunch meats, mashed potatoes, chicken pot pie, seasonal veggies, pasta of the day, and roasted ham. The children's section had various pizzas (the famous PB&J, mac 'n' cheese pizza, roasted veggie, pepperoni, and plain cheese), hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, and chicken nuggets.
There was also a wide variety of desserts. These included bread pudding, bananas foster crepes, blueberry cobbler, chocolate dipped rice crispies, tarts, jello cups, pineapple coconut cupcakes, chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies, as well as a soft serve ice cream station with an assortment of toppings.
We were able to meet "Servers" Chip & Dale, "Pastry Chef" Minnie, and "Sous Chef" Pluto. They wore costumes unique to this location, which was nice surprise, as I was kind of expecting the same outfits as they have at WDW's Chef Mickey's. Pluto snuck up to our table and sniffed our food, and I caught Minnie checking out "her" desserts on the buffet to make sure everything was plentiful.
Everything we had here was amazing. The PB&J pizza is famous for a reason-wow! My mom overdid it a little on the soft serve ice cream with Ghirardelli caramel sauce! We definitely got our money's worth here, and didn't feel rushed in any way. Can't recommend this place enough!
Pros:
Good character interaction, amazing buffet, Halloween decorationsCons:

We had a 10:30am ADR here on 10/1, our last day in Disneyland. Our original plan was to participate in Early Entry at 8am and knock out a good amount of rides. Well, my mom decided not to go along with that plan, but that's another story. So we arrived here around 10am. There was a short line to check in. Then they take your photo, as a previous poster said, with no character. It *is* included with Photopass+; they will give you the folder in the restaurant with a 5x7 and four 4x6 photos, plus they are available to download as part of the Photo CD. After that, you pay up front before being seated. We were seated inside, in the room to the left.
Suzy, the mouse from Cinderella, came around almost immediately. Other characters we saw were Eeyore, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Rafiki, Max Goof, Dale, and, of course, Minnie. Captain Hook did not make it to our table, but we were able to catch him on our way out, and we never did get to see Chip.
For other people who have been to WDW, this restaurant reminds me of Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom, with its Victorian theming.
The restaurant is essentially self-serve, though they do have cast members who put together plates of bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs; bowls of oatmeal, and french toast and Mickey waffles. Other items include cereal, fruit, pastries, and jello or yogurt parfaits. There are cartons of milk, dispensers of juice, as well as a regular self-serve soda dispenser.
This is one of the most inexpensive sit down breakfast options at Disneyland Resort, and the sheer number of characters make it an excellent value. We did not feel rushed at all...in fact, we were ready to go but had not met all the characters yet!
Pros:
Good food, lots of charactersCons:

We had a dinner ADR on 9/29 for 5pm. We arrived less than five minutes late to check in. The restaurant had just opened for dinner so it was definitely not full, but we were told to sit and we would be called when our table was ready-just a few minutes, but my mom felt they were "punishing" us for being late. I think she may have been over reacting a bit. 😉
I decided to do the dinner buffet and Mom chose the 10 oz New York Strip Steak entree.
We were brought a bread basket that included some mini Corn Muffins and a loaf of bread (I didn't try that one). The buffet options included green salad with toppings, rustic potato salad (very good), macaroni and cheese (had NO taste at all, was disappointed), chicken nuggets, salmon, chicken, herb crusted casino roast (delicious), mashed potatoes, green beans, penne pasta, and charred Nebraska corn chowder, among other things. It was all good but I don't think anything was outstanding.
My mom felt her strip steak was fatty but she enjoyed the mashed potatoes.
I tried several desserts from the buffet, including a mini cupcake, a S'Mores tart (chocolate was too rich and dense), a coconut cheesecake with key lime curd (just okay), and bread pudding with vanilla sauce (my mom liked it, I didn't, but I'm not a big fan of bread pudding in general).
This dinner was just okay, don't think I'd return anytime soon.

We ate here for our last meal at Disneyland on 10/1. They had a cast member with a portable device taking the orders in line, then she gave a receipt to take to the cashier. This helped speed things along because there was a bit of a line going. There are a few tabled behind the wagon, alongside the seating for Plaza Inn. We were able to get one from a family just leaving.
The corndogs can be purchased without the bag of chips, saving a couple of dollars. They were just as good as the last time I had one!

I truly enjoyed our 2 night stay in the cabins. Was very helpful to come home the first night and cook our daughter her pasta dinner and not feed her typical chicken nuggets. Cabin was very large so that we were never cramping each other. You need to use both the internal bus system to get around the park and the bus system to get to the parks, traveling by car takes you a little bit out of the way. Would highly recommend this resort for families to stay at.
