Review of Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery

We stopped here on the morning of our visit to Animal Kingdom, 10/21. They have a plentiful selection of breakfast pastries and wraps for a quick breakfast. Most of the items can be purchased using snack credits from the dining plan. My daughter loved the colossal cinnamon bun and I had a tasty croissant. However, my husband prefers a heartier breakfast and didn't care for the selections. We were able to grab a table right beside Kusafiri to enjoy our pastries.

Pros:

Snack Options plentiful

Cons:

Hubby didn't like the selections

This is a must do for our family on every trip to Disney. We visited there on 10/23 for our last Disney meal. Everyone's food selections in our party of 6 were delicious. My daughter loves the light up ice cubes that are offered with the souvenir cup. Our server was Zi and although she wasn't as in character as some past servers we have had; she was very sweet and took care of us with no problems. We will definitely return!

Pros:

Food, Atmosphere

Review of Toy Story Pizza Planet CLOSED February 1, 2016 for Long Rehab

We stopped in Pizza Planet for some late lunch on 10/17. We had never tried this place but thought we would give it a chance. The line was long but it moved pretty quickly. We ordered our food and found our way upstairs to a table. The salads were good but the pizzas were very tasteless. We ate them because we were hungry but they just weren't good. The desserts were tasty though so that was a nice end to our meal. I don't think we would come back to Pizza Planet.

Pros:

Upstairs dining, Cleanliness

Cons:

Pizza

Review of Disney Junior Play 'N Dine at Hollywood & Vine

My daughter is 8 years old and still loves the Disney Jr. characters although she is "aging out" of those shows. We had breakfast here on the first day of our trip, 10/17 and it was wonderful. The buffet selections were delicious and the character interactions were timed perfectly and they each spent an adequate time at each table. We especially enjoyed meeting Doc McStuffins for the first time. Our party of 6 enjoyed our meal and made some memories.

Pros:

Atmosphere, Food Selection

This is our favorite place for breakfast in all of Disney World. We had a party of 6 with one 8 year old princess among us. She loves getting to meet each princess and participating in the royal princess procession. The food doesn't disappoint either. Between the items on the cold side and the hot plate that you get to share, it is fabulous! Our favorites are the potatoes that come on the hot plate. We will definitely return!

Pros:

Princesses, Food, Atmosphere

Cons:

Review of Flame Tree Barbecue

I had the ribs. I added the sweet and spicy bbq sauce to them which helped to bring out the flavor. They were a bit chewy but I've had much worse. In my opinion they were pretty good for theme park food. Adding the same bbq sauce to the beans perked them up too. The jalapeno cornbread had no trace of jalapeno flavor or spice. My wife had the ribs and chicken combo. The chicken was very dry. She said that she would not order them again. The highlight of the lunch was definitely the onion rings. The rings were cut wide from large onions and there were enough in one order to share. They were delicious. They may be the best onion rings I've had at a theme park. There were a lot of strollers in line which made exiting the counter area a challenge. I wish they had a way to exit off to the side.

Pros:

Decent ribs, great onion rings, ample seating

Cons:

Difficult to exit counter area once you have your food

Review of Be Our Guest Dinner

In short, lunch is a much better value. We ate dinner here in October. We checked in and after few minutes we were escorted by our server to the West Wing area. We were seated at a table for two. Our server was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If it were not for our server my rating would be a couple of points lower. The restaurant is extremely well themed but I'm guessing that most users of this site know already know that so I won't go into the details. I had the mussels as a starter. The portion size was large but about 1/4 to 1/3 of the shells were closed. I've always been told not to eat mussels if they haven't opened during the cooking process. I thought that the wine and butter sauce accompanying the mussels was too salty. I've had both the soups on menu at lunch and I wish that I would have ordered either of them instead of the mussels. I ordered the pork rack chop as an entree. The presentation was good. The meat was fatty and tough. The red wine jus was too salty tasting. It seemed saltier than the sauce that came with the mussels. My wife had the strip steak which she liked but she was not wowed by it.
This is an amazingly themed restaurant but dinner is expensive and the food really wasn't that good. We had lunch here in August and that was much better. Everyone really liked what they ordered at lunch -the soups, the croque monsieur and the roast beef.

Pros:

Great atmosphere, very good service

Cons:

Value, food quality at dinner

on October 18th, we came especially for the Food and Wine Festival with my daughter and her family. What a mess. it was crowded and the lines were long; people were running from one kiosk to another carrying their beer or liquor, bumping into others, holding a place in line for 15 others to jump in. we were concerned about safety for the kids as they were walking with us and not in strollers. we won't be back the way it's handled now.

Pros:

can't think of one

Cons:

long lines, drunkeness, not caring about others

Review of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (Magic Kingdom)

This was my first Halloween party and unfortunately I wouldn't choose to do it again. We were at the party on Thursday night 10/22 and I'm not sure but I would guess it was sold out. We were there specifically to hit the short ride lines. No such luck at any point during the night. I was shocked that the crowd was so very light, maybe the lightest I've ever seen during the regular day hours around 5pm. I thought that was a good sign of things to come but boy was I wrong. It was packed and the lines for rides never thinned out. Peter Pan stayed at a good 40 minutes all night and we never got on the Mine Train because it ran anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes all night. We kept putting it off hoping that the later it got the shorter the lines, but it just seemed to get more and more crowded as the night went on. We did enjoy the fireworks and the parade but we waited for the second parade hoping for a good spot but that didn't work out either. I have been to the Christmas party 4 times and the first 2 felt like we had rented out the parks for ourselves, but as the years have gone on it seems that they are letting more and more people in and it defeats the whole idea of the party if you ask me. I prefer the Christmas party over Halloween but special fireworks and a parade are not worth it for me. The low crowds were what I always went for and if they do away with that, I might as well just go to the MK on a regular day. Disney has gotten so bad about making that dollar that they are starting to price me right out of my yearly vacations.

Pros:

atmosphere

Cons:

The huge crowd takes away from the event

Review of Whispering Canyon Cafe Lunch/Dinner

This was my 3rd trip to WC and it was our first meal of the trip and I had my boyfriend with me who was there for his first visit so I asked the guy at the check in desk if he would seat us with a server that liked to play along and specifically said that I had a "newbie" with me in hopes that they would at least try to make it a little special. Well, we were seated all the way in the back by the kitchen entrance (the same spot they seated me last year) where you couldn't be any further from the action. It was around 2pm so it wasn't very busy. Our server was very sweet, very soft spoken guy. Well, while our server was polite, he was anything BUT into playing along. Not a darn thing happened but it was fun to watch all of the antics that every other server was getting into with their customers. We even had our card turned over to show that we wanted to play along. Still nothing. It happens to me every time I go to a "play along" type of restaurant. No luck at 50's Prime Time either. I give up! The food was good but that is all I can say about our server and the Whispering Canyon.

Pros:

Could be fun with the right server

Cons:

we always get the wrong server
