Review of Port Orleans Riverside Resort (Moderate Resort)

We stayed at POR Royal Room Feb26-Mar4th. Our group had 10 people in it, so we had 3 rooms. We were in Oak with a river view. The location was wonderful. It was a 5 min walk to the food court and main bus stop. We had a quiet pool on the side of the building which the kids enjoyed more than the main pool. The food court had a good variety just very busy. Our main complaint was the transportation. Took forever to get anywhere. We waited for buses a lot. POR needs more buses for the amount of people staying there. This was our first moderate resort. We usually stay deluxe but we felt for the value the resort was worth it. We will probably try to continue to stay deluxe but if we had to go moderate we would stay here again.

Pros:

Beautiful Resort

Cons:

Transporation

Review of Blue Bayou Dinner

DH, Me, DS 15, DD 10, & DS friend 15 ate here Sunday, March 9th.
Dinner reservations (60 day advance) for 7:10 PM. Seated almost exactly at that time.

Salad with vinaigrette was very good. Rolls and biscuits good.
Three of us ordered Surf n Turf. Small portions but very tasty. Plenty of food though...not over stuffed afterwards.
DD had lamb. She loved it.
DS friend had slow roasted beef strip and liked it.
Service was not overly friendly and a bit rushed, but it's a popular restaurant and they need to move people pretty quick.

We were told by a CM (at a NO Square store) that the chef was new. This was our second visit since 2010 and I will say the food tasted better this time.

I recommend Blue Bayou and will eat here again!

Pros:

Ambiance, friendly CM host, food, location

Cons:

no alcohol, rushed service

Review of Disney's Contemporary Resort Concierge Level

We had an AMAZING time at the Contemporary. We actually stayed in the Garden Wing due to the size of our party. The Hospitality Suite is a hidden gem. It was HUGE!! We had two living room areas, 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen including dishwasher, big dining room table and a full guest room. There was a pull out sofa in the main room as well as the guest room. We had FOUR sliding doors to open and even being close to the pool, the noise never bothered us. Even at night, the Electrical Water Parade came by and you could hear that classic music but it was soothing because it reminded you where you were!

We had to walk from the Garden Wing up to the main building but our room was the first one closest to it so it's really not a big deal. Honestly, after walking around MK or any other park all day, it's a lovely walk and takes all of 5 minutes. It was especially beautiful at night. I know that some people feel that the Contemporary "lacks" a theme but when the monorail runs through your hotel and you have a character meal in the building with a clear view of the castle and fireworks, I never forgot I was at Disney.

As for the 12th floor- I can't wait to go back! The treats and drinks all day and night were plenty. If you are planning to only eat there it may not be enough but, with 8 people in our group it was enough variety. The breakfast items were wonderful and was a great option if you wanted to get a decent bite before an early start. There is also plenty of items you can take with you to avoid buying snacks in the park. We always grabbed a piece of fruit or brought a baggie of cereal.

I have to say, that since we did need to walk (most guests are staying right on the 12th floor) the staff was WONDERFUL and allowed us to bring a tray of snacks and drinks back to our room so that we didn't have to drag everyone up there- especially if the little ones were sleeping.

Our other favorite part- the VIEW! With a large group of varying ages, we would be tired at the end of the night but the lounge was the best place to be. We could sit and watch the fireworks without having to fight a crowd to get a good spot or to get out of the park! Some of the kids didn't like the noise so they could easily sit inside and watch through the sliding doors.

I never ever wanted to stay at the Contemporary because I felt like lots of other people- it's blah and unappealing. So not true. Just stay there. It was the best surprise we could have imagined.

On another note we upgraded to the Deluxe Dining package. It can be a lot to use since it's costly but it allowed us to get all the character meals we wanted and we were able to use meals for takeout- I have to say the Wave did a great job with take out. The Contempo Cafe was wonderful too and with the Deluxe plan we always had to grab a dessert and with 6 to choose at every meal, we would grab 1 or 2 cupcakes to split (these were DELICIOUS and HUGE) and then the other snacks would be something packaged like a rice krispie treat. This gave us weeks of after dinner treats once we got home! The Deluxe gave us lots of freedom and on our last day we stopped in to a few places in Downtown Disney and grabbed sandwiches for the drive home because we had some extra meals left and it worked out great!

I will say, this is not the "affordable" way to go. The club level raises your prices as well as the Deluxe Plan. However, it was nothing short of an all inclusive trip without having to fly to the Caribbean. If you price out another all inclusive and then the same at Disney with the club level and Deluxe Dining - Disney is the clear winner every time.

Pros:

Staff, view, availability

Cons:

Walk to lounge

We thought that this being an Italian Restaurant the food would be great. It was very disappointing. We had pizza, well, we thought it was pizza. What we had was a crust with a very small amount of sauce, which by the way had no taste at all, two olives, three slices of onions, two pieces of basil and a few slices of red pepper. It was terrible. That is the pizza now on to the drinks. We had San Pellegrino water, the water is good I buy it all the time. But when the waiter brought the glass filled with ice and poured the water in, I saw that the glass was dirty like it had not been washed, I was so disgusted by that!

Lastly, the price was too high for the food that they serve. We will never go there again.

Fun atmosphere, that's where anything positive ends. We had a group of six, ordered three burgers, two chicken sandwiches and a pizza. First the burgers had no flavor and came with cold fries. The chicken was also cold and subpar in quality along with cold fries. The pizza tasted like cheap frozen pizza that even Walmart wouldn't sell. Service was bad, the waiter mostly MIA. Wouldn't eat there again, might recommend it to someone I didn't like.

Pros:

cool atmosphere

cold ,tasteless food poor service

Although my husband and I never shared a meal here this vacation, we did grab many snacks and drink refills in our refillable mugs. The dining area was always clean and the drink station was always very well received. I don't know what brand of ice cream was used here, but it was very good, as were the Mickey rice krispy bars.

My husband and I had lunch here on March 14th, and everything was excellent. We had the cheddar cheese soup for an appetizer and it was plentiful, hot and delicious.
For our entrees, we both had the mushroom filet, and again, it was delicious and cooked to order.
For dessert, I had the strawberry panna cotta and my husband had the citrus-olive oil cake. Both were oh so yummy.
I have dined here at least 3 or 4 times, and every time it's a perfect choice.

This place was amazing! My husband and I dined here on March 13th. We were seated shortly after checking in for our ADR.
We both had arancini as an appetizer and we both had individual pizzas as our entrees. My husband had pepperoni and I had mushroom. For dessert, my husband had the lemon gelato and I had the zeppole. Oh my goodness, the zeppole was awesome. In fact, everything was delicious. I highly recommend dining here.

Review of San Angel Inn Lunch/Dinner

I really had high hopes for this restaurant even after all the negative reviews I've read in the past. Unfortunately, I can't give it higher than a 5, and the 5 is being generous.

It started off ok. We checked in at 11:20, for our 11:30 ADR, and was told by the hostess that they don't begin seating until 11:30. That was fine, we were early. The problem was that when they started seating, we were the first to have checked in, but probably the 4th or 5th group to be seated.

We were however, seated right at 11:30 at a table next to the water, which was very cool. We loved the location.

Our waitress started off being very friendly. She asked us if she could get us a margarita or shot of tequila. I said I'd actually like a coke and my husband said that would be great for him as well. Then, everything changed. For the rest of the meal, our waitress was extremely rude. She didn't ask us if we'd like refills on our drinks until we were just about done eating our lunch. She asked us 3 times in a 5 minute period if we knew what we wanted as our entrees (our appetizers hadn't even arrived yet). We tried engaging her in conversation a couple times and she walked away each time, while my husband or I was in the middle of speaking to her. I can't even begin to explain how rude she was and how lacking she was in Disney spirit.

Now, for the food...the complimentary chips were all right, but the salsa tasted like ketchup. It was awful. It was honestly the worst salsa I have ever had.

For appetizers, we both had the tostados. They were very good. For our entrees, we both had the enchiladas. They were also good. For dessert, we both had the crema bavaria, also quite yummy.

If it weren't for the incredibly poor service, I would have rated San Angel Inn much higher, because the food (once you got past the chips and salsa) was actually quite yummy.

I don't think we will give this restaurant another chance, especially since there are so many other restaurants in Epcot with exceptional service and food.

My husband and I had lunch here for the first time on March 12th. Everything we ate was perfect. We had: seared ahi tuna, wok-fried green beans, tempura shrimp and bourbon chicken.
For dessert, I had the fried wontons, and let me tell you, they were delicious! My husband had the mango pie.
I highly recommend making an ADR here and giving it a try. We will be back...
