Review of Boardwalk Villas (Disney Vacation Club)

We were in a 1 bedroom villa. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, and the Boardwalk itself is amazing with great night life. The pool was great (albeit cold). You also have numerous options for getting to the parks which is incredibly convenient. In fact, I found out while there that they even run busses to Epcot in the afternoon.
The negatives for me have been said by about everyone here, so I'll be brief. We were on the dining plan, so we got the rapid refil mugs free. If you are not, don't buy them, they aren't worth it. It is a hike from the villas to get coffee/drinks in the morning (though the bakery is delicious). You are honestly better buying some for your room. We were on the first floor, so we didn't have the elevator issues, but we were at the end of our complex. Just to give you an idea of how spread out that is, it was quicker for us to walk to the Swan/Dolphin boats than the Boardwalk (busses weren't much longer either). It makes it quite a pain when you want to run over to the store for something quick. Finally, I really dislike the lack of quick service options. All you really have is the bakery for sandwiches.
We have stayed at about 8 of the Disney resorts, and I would put this about middle of the pack as far as resorts go. It's very nice, but I think I would stick the Contemporary and Beach Club over it for Deluxe Resorts.

I just returned from a week at the Pop Century and was extremely disheartened at the food choices for dinner. I am one of those "weirdos" who don't eat meat off the bone because it unfortunately grosses me out, so aside from the pasta selections, or a sandwich of sorts, I was out of luck. I stayed a few years ago at the All Star Sports and had turkey and other selections that I loved, so this was disappointing. I ended up with the chicken parm with pasta. It was tender, but dry - it had no sauce on it and the marinara sauce was like watered down tomato paste. I am usually the type that will eat anything too and like it, while others turn their noses up. The burgers were always cold and had a funny taste to the meat. We had the burgers twice thinking maybe it was a fluke the first time. The only thing we enjoyed were the nachos.
What really sealed the deal though was the personality and attitudes given to the guests by the Everything Pop servers. The dessert line where you can get ice cream, at one point, was empty of anyone to assist a long line and when she finally came strolling out of the back, she was slow, apparently annoyed and not very friendly to people. The burger line, they argued with one another, rolled their eyes at people and never greeted anyone with a smile. I couldn't believe this was Disney! The remainder of the hotel staff were friendly - even the mousekeeping staff, but this was enough for us to rethink the Pop Century in the future.

Ate here for lunch last week. As usual, excellent service and the vegetarian cottage pie is awesome. Yes, it was hot, but I had plenty of water, with my glass of wine, and some breeze. They are so nice to parties of 1 here; Chloe was so sweet. A go to spot for me.

First time here last week. Lovely table by the water and oh this food. Hummus and the best pita I have ever had. And, the grape leaves--outstanding. Good wine recommended by Amin. One of my new FAVES.

Our party of 9 ate lunch here on Tuesday August 26, 2014. The restaurant was quiet and we were seated right at our reservation time.
We ordered 3 gluten free meals; fish and chips, salmon in a light cream sauce, mushroom risotto, and a side order of onion rings. All 3 meals were good. My husband did not like that the skin was still on his fried fish.
Others in our party ordered cheese burgers, shepherds pie and sod and stew. Everyone was happy with their lunch.

Our party of 9 had lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern in August 2014. We ordered 4 gluten free dinners and they were all excellent. We order gluten free versions of the Pilgrims Feast and the New England Pot Roast. For dessert they only had a gluten free brownie sundae, which we all passed on.
The one negative to the meal was my youngest son's mac & cheese, he thought it was gross. The other children ordered pasta with cream sauce and it was fine.

Our party of 9 ate here August 24, 2014. Everyone was pleased with their meal. We ordered 4 gluten free meals; chicken salad, hot dog on a bun with fries, turkey sandwich and a vegetable sandwich. They were all very good. For dessert we were offered a gluten free brownie or cookie, they were just o.k.
Our children ordered chicken strip and cheese burgers, but the dessert was the real star of their meals. They had beautiful Frozen decorated cupcakes.
The free drink refills is another huge plus at this restaurant.

In August 2014 we stayed at the All Star Music Resort, as our food court was closed we went over to the All Star Movie Resort's food court.
We went there once for dinner and once for breakfast and that was enough. I will say that the cast members were very accommodating to our gluten free diet. The gluten free food was better than my children's "regular" food. All three of my children thought their dinners were terrible. And breakfast at the food court was just o.k..

The food at The Mara is above average for a counter service restaurant in a hotel. We ate here twice on our trip in August 2014. Both times everyone was pleased with their meal. The restaurant offers a really nice gluten free split chicken dinner with green beans and potatoes. My husband ordered the gluten free pizza and he thought it was fine. They also offered us g.f. Zebra Domes, which they brought out from the kitchen.
One night they also had desserts and pastries from Baby Cakes. I only wish they had them in stock the second night we came in for dinner.

Our party of five was seated quickly. I was hoping to be in view of the stage but we were seated close to the door, which is my only complaint. We started with the Daulkey Duo the sausages were delicious! Everyone liked them, except DD9 who doesn't eat sausage ever! I had the Heavenly Hash it was very good. My DH had the bangers & Booz which was also good. The girls in the party had the cod which was pretty bland. DS 12 had grilled chicken, let's face it, there's not much you can do to ruin chicken. Then we had dessert. I liked the bread pudding but the Black Kiss didn't have much taste. I would set here again, the menu is large & I'd like to try the apple strawberry tart
