2 Major Changes Just Arrived in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Some major changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer!

Woohoo!

Animation Courtyard is being transformed into The Walt Disney Studios, opening in stages this summer with a new Disney Jr show and animation-themed experiences. Also, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster construction will soon be complete to give the ride its Muppets overhaul. And during a recent visit, we got some big construction updates for both those locations!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

First up, we’re heading back to Sunset Boulevard to check out the progress on the new Muppets coaster. This updated version of the ride will open on May 26th, and new signage has been added!

There’s the poster we saw as concept art when the ride was announced on the wall of the ride building. It features some of our favorite characters, including The Electric Mayhem, who the ride’s backstory centers around.

Here’s a closer glance at the poster. It’s stationed next to the iconic giant guitar (which recently got a paint job!).

How cool!

Also, we noticed new signage up for Rock Around the Shop, the gift shop at the exit of the ride. The sign now has more of a groovy Muppets vibe to it, as opposed to the sharper fonts that were associated with the Aerosmith version of this ride.

We can’t wait to check out this ride soon!

The Walt Disney Studios

Down the street in the former home of Animation Courtyard, The Walt Disney Studios is taking shape. The courtyard and new show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! open here on May 26th as well. The Magic of Disney Animation, which is taking over Star Wars Launch Bay, will open later this summer.

The theater

Signage has been updated on the theater, and we got this cool Mickey Mouse shorts poster added to the outside.

The theater here is the “Studio Theater,” according to the metal letters adorning the awning.
