As Epic Universe celebrates its first birthday, many guests are still planning their first visits and asking the same question:

How many days do they need at Universal’s newest theme park?
After a year+ of visiting the park, traversing its portals, and enjoying its treats, our pick for the perfect day count for Epic Universe is:
*DRUMROLL PLEASE*
TWO DAYS
So why two days? Well, it starts with ride count and wait times. Currently, the park is home to 11 attractions: Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Stardust Racers, and Yoshi’s Adventure.

As we’ve tracked Epic Universe’s wait times over the last year, several of the park’s attractions – especially the Potter, Donkey Kong, and Mario Kart attractions – have averaged wait times well over an hour consistently, while the rest generally hover near the half-hour mark. So, just based on the mathematics involved, you’ll need a full park day just to ride the majority of the park’s attractions, in turn leaving little time to experience the rest of the park… which is where the second day comes in.

A second day at Epic Universe could spent taking a more relaxed approach to the park, including exploring all of the intricate theme of the portals (one could spend hours alone looking – and listening – around Dark Universe), taking advantage of interactive elements like the Power Up games in Super Nintendo World or using their wands in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or enjoying some of the park’s best food (we’re looking at you Mac & Cheese Cone in Isle of Berk).

Weather also plays a factor. Of Epic Universe’s aforementioned 11 attractions, 8 of them are partially outdoors, meaning that they are susceptible to weather closures and delays. Having a second day available gives a bit of insurance against a potential washout day.

All that being said, we do understand that sometimes time or schedule constraints may mean you only have a single day to dedicate to Epic Universe. If that’s the case, there is a way to make sure you see as much of the park as possible — including as many rides as possible (weather permitting) –, but it’s gonna cost a bit extra.

You can purchase a single-day Universal Express Pass in addition to your Epic Universe admission, which would allow you to skip the regular lines at participating rides and attractions once per ride. Express Passes for Epic Universe begin at $199 per day, with prices fluctuating based on demand. That can add up quickly, especially if you’re not traveling solo.

As guests become more accustomed to Epic Universe and its offerings, it’s becoming clearer just how many days the park really requires to make the most out of it. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Universal.
