If you’ve been following AllEars for a while, then you know that we love Disney history. One of our favorite pieces of Disney history is the windows on Main Street, U.S.A., which commemorate Disney Legends and notable figures that have made Disney Disney!

Today, we were able to watch Disney history being made with the unveiling of a brand-new window along Main Street!
This morning, we were invited by Disney to witness former Imagineer and future Disney Legend Kim Irvine being honored with a window on Disneyland‘s Main Street, U.S.A.!

The ceremony, held before the park opened for the day, honored Kim Irvine and her achievements, and Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino opened the ceremony with a speech, noting, “Kim represents the very best that our company stands for, and her influence extends far beyond the Disneyland Resort.”

Kim Irvine is a former Disney Imagineer and future Disney Legend. Her work with Disney is extensive, and she’s part of a legacy within the company as well!

Kim is also known for being the daughter of Leota Toombs, the original voice of Madame Leota in Haunted Mansion. In more recent years, since her mother’s passing, Kim has done voice work as Madame Leota for Disney. So, of course, Madame Leota herself made an appearance at the ceremony!
Note: This character appearance was ONLY for the special ceremony and does not reflect any character appearances in Disneyland Resort during operating hours.

The window was unveiled above the Crystal Arts shop, and it includes both Kim’s and her mother’s names with a Haunted Mansion inspiration. It’s a truly stunning design for a fictional “Crystal Ball Glass Co.”

Kim began at Disney in 1970 as a model builder and painter at WED Enterprises. She worked in the Model Shop, painting “it’s a small world” dolls and toys, feathering Enchanted Tiki Room birds, and building scale models for the upcoming Magic Kingdom.

Her mother, Leota Toombs, was instrumental in the design of Disneyland. Later, her daughter Kim Irvine followed in her footsteps, working on several projects for the resort, including the decoration of Sleeping Beauty Castle for the 50th Anniversary, design elements for refurbishments of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America, and she served as model and voice actor of Madame Leota for Haunted Mansion Holiday.

We had so much fun watching Kim Irvine’s window be unveiled today. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Disney history!
