Disneyland Bans 2 Popular Items From Rides

When you enter Disneyland, you’re agreeing to abide by certain rules, which include prohibited items in the parks, as well as prohibited items on rides.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

In case you didn’t realize it, though, Disneyland just recently cracked down on two popular items in rides and has, more or less, banned them from being used while riding specific attractions.

We recently visited Disneyland and headed over to ToonTown to see if we spotted anything new, and we saw some new signs over at Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Now, there’s always been a rule against having loose cell phones on the ride, but that’s now being enforced, and you’ll find new signs in the queue warning you about this rule. Notice the sign shows water bottles as loose items, too.

We spoke to a Cast Member, who told us that this wasn’t necessarily a ban, but more of a rule being enforced so that riders won’t have loose articles in their hands before a ride vehicle is allowed to continue after boarding. Cast Members will not allow a ride vehicle to leave the boarding area until all loose items are stored away. This is because a lot of people have lost their cell phones on this ride. Plus, if the cell phone falls on the ride’s floor, it could cause problems for the ride and result in a broken phone.

Over in Disney California Adventure, Incredicoaster has always banned loose items due to safety reasons. Now that everyone is carrying metal water bottles, though, this rule is being heavily enforced. A Cast Member told us that if your water bottle can fit into your bag, you can bring it onto the ride with you if you have it in that bag. However, if not, you’ll have to leave it behind on a table before you board the ride and pick it up once the ride is over.

Note that these rules are being enforced for everyone’s safety. Should a loose item like a heavy water bottle end up flying out of your hand, it could fly out and potentially hurt someone else. If a Cast Member asks you to put something away or to leave an item behind until the ride is over, please listen. And, if in doubt, always feel free to ask a Cast Member about any items that you’re concerned about.
