UPDATE on ‘Monsters, Inc.’ Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

So, at what point do we stop saying “the former Muppets Courtyard” and just start saying Monstropolis? Asking for a friend.

The new Monsters, Inc. themed land is really coming together in Hollywood Studios, and any remnants of the Muppets are rapidly leaving the space. Everything is moving right along, and we have a new look at Monstropolis to admire!

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we can see that the whole ground is officially torn up and ready for the next step. I always thought Muppets Courtyard felt pretty small with how it was laid out, but looking at it from above, the space is huge!

Of course, they’re also expanding the space by taking part of the Cast Member parking lot for the hanging door roller coaster.

Quirky parts of the Muppets are being painted over, which personally makes me pretty sad, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thrilled to see the Monstropolis.

The PizzeRizzo sign still stands! Part of me hopes this is the last part to be removed and that it goes straight to the Walt Disney Archives, where I hope it sits next to the Miss Piggy fountain. The MuppetVision signs have been taken down, and all of the fun is slowly being painted over.

The hanging door roller coaster will be the main attraction, where guests will get a chance to slide like the doors from the movie. In the beginning, the seats will actually be picked up and put onto the rack!

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.

There will also be a show, but we haven’t been given too much information on it. On some concept art, the marquee sign says “The Glob.”

What I’m looking forward to is the dining! Again, Disney hasn’t dropped too many details, but Harryhausen’s, the Japanese restaurant from the movies, has been shown in multiple concept art images. This would be a literal childhood dream come true if I get a chance to dine here!
