Something FREE Is Coming to Southwest Airlines (But It’s Not Bags…)

Southwest Airlines has made a lot of controversial changes this year.

First, the airline abandoned its open seat policy, completely changing its boarding system. Then the airline announced it would no longer offer free checked bags. Now, though, a NEW change is coming to Southwest soon, but this time, the change is one most passengers will appreciate.

On October 24th, free Wi-Fi is coming to all Southwest Airlines flights. That’s right, thanks to T-Mobile, you’ll be able to surf the net on all your devices while you’re flying high. Southwest also promises that the entire fleet will get faster Wi-Fi, too!

But that’s not all, Southwest is bringing in-seat power ports and larger overhead bins to its new 737 Max 8 airplanes and is in the process of adding them to existing aircraft, too.

Finally, Southwest is promising to add new features to its app to make your day of travel even easier.

Will these new additions make up for the controversial changes? Who knows? But I, personally, am glad to see some good news coming from the airline for a change, even if I am still salty about the end of “bags fly free.”

Southwest also recently added redeye flights for transcontinental and Hawaii routes. The airline plans to announce even more redeye flights throughout the year.
