The boy was rescued with the help of other theme park visitors and captured on video.

Video of the incident shows the child standing on the track of the Capital BlueCross Monorail, a ride that offers an audio tour of Hersheypark. Its track is over 20 feet off the ground. The child was reported missing before that and had somehow wandered onto the ride’s track on a day when the monorail was not in operation.

In a statement, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts said that the child had entered a secured area for the monorail that “was closed and safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile at the platform.” Staff immediately responded to the area when the boy was spotted.

The video shows onlookers trying to help guide the child to safety, but their yelling seemed to confuse the boy. However, one man climbed onto the roof of a nearby structure and motioned for the boy to come to him. The man then jumped onto the monorail and picked up the boy, saving him.

The boy did not suffer any injuries and was later reunited with his family about 20 minutes after he was reported missing.

“We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark,” the company said.
