I Feel So, So Bad for People Who Made These Mistakes at Orlando Airport

Each year, millions of travelers filter through Orlando International Airport (MCO) while visiting tourist destinations like Disney World and the Universal Orlando Resort…

…and each year, some of those travelers make entirely avoidable mistakes!

Not Booking a Security Time

It may surprise you to know that there IS a FREE way to skip the lines at security at MCO. The MCO Reserve System, powered by CLEAR, allows you to skip the lines for free at a pre-appointed time. MCO Reserve is open from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and if your flight is set to depart between 6:30 AM and 8:30 PM, you are eligible to use this service.

Not Checking the MCO Website

MCO’s website offers up-to-date information on security line wait times, parking availability, and flight status, including weather delays. Meaning that checking the site in the lead to your flight will help you figure out the right time to leave for the airport and where to park when you get there.

Joining the Wrong TSA Line

When approaching airport security, there are two lines a traveler can join: The longer, standard security line and the shorter line for those who’ve qualified for TSA PreCheck through paid services like Clear.

Despite identifying signage, we can tell you how many times we’ve seen travelers wait on the wrong line only to realize their mistake. This has even gone both ways, with guests jumping on the PreCheck line only to be turned away, and those eligible waiting on a much longer line than necessary for them.

Ending Up in the Wrong Terminal

Speaking of security lines, we’ve seen people wait and go all the way through security… only to end up in the wrong terminal and have to go through the process all over again to make it to the right one. This is why it’s integral to make sure to check which terminal – A, B, or C – is your flight’s location.

Not Checking the Food Options Beforehand

Once you’re in your terminal, you’ll be presented with several food options. However, if you’re planning to eat in your MCO terminal, it’s important to make sure that the food you want is actually available there before. If not, you’re going to find up trapped hungrily waiting for your flight, surrounded by food you can’t or don’t want to eat. Some of the best options at MCO happen to be before security.
