Airport security is the last kind of line I want to wait in when I’m headed to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

We spend so much time talking about how to make the Disney part of your trip smoother, but let’s rewind to the very beginning — getting there. If you’re flying to Orlando International Airport (MCO) like I do, the travel day itself can be just as chaotic as the theme parks. That’s why TSA PreCheck is one of my go-to travel tools. Here’s why I never fly to Disney World without it.
I’m Impatient. That’s It.
Look, I’m not afraid to admit it. I do not enjoy waiting in lines. I really don’t enjoy waiting in lines at the airport, where the vibe is always “mild panic with a side of carry-on confusion.”

TSA PreCheck lets me skip right past the long general security lines and breeze through with way less hassle. No taking off shoes. No digging out my laptop. No juggling bins like I’m on a game show. It’s just faster — and when I’m trying to get to Disney World, faster is better.
MCO Security Lines Are No Joke
If you’ve flown into or out of MCO, you probably already know what I’m talking about. The security lines there can get wild, especially during busy seasons or weekends. I’ve seen the regular security line wrapped so far back that it looked like a theme park queue, except without the fun music or churros.

TSA PreCheck usually has a much shorter line, and the process moves quickly. Getting through security without the stress of a bottleneck is a huge win in my book.
It’s a Lifesaver for Late Travelers (aka Me)
I try to be an “arrive two hours early” kind of person. I really do. But sometimes it just doesn’t happen — maybe traffic was worse than expected, maybe I hit snooze too many times.

Whatever the reason, if I’m running late, TSA PreCheck is the thing that stands between me and a full-on airport meltdown. Knowing I can get through security faster helps keep my travel anxiety in check, especially when I’m cutting it close.
The Cost Is Totally Worth It
TSA PreCheck costs $78 for five years, and honestly, I’d pay more. It breaks down to about $15 a year, which is less than the cost of most Disney snacks —and way more useful.

If you travel even a couple of times a year, it more than pays for itself in saved time and sanity. And because it lasts for five years, I don’t have to think about it again until basically the next Olympics.
It Makes Travel Just a Little Easier
There’s something about not having to empty your bag or take your shoes off that just feels… nice. Like, yes, I do deserve a small travel win today. Security becomes one less thing to stress over, and for me, that’s a game changer. Disney trips are supposed to be fun, and TSA PreCheck helps me start the trip on the right foot — literally, with my shoes still on.

So if you’re like me — impatient, occasionally late, and looking to avoid every line that isn’t attached to a ride — TSA PreCheck is a no-brainer. It’s a small travel upgrade that makes a big difference, especially when the destination is Disney World.
