The NEW Disney World Hotel Perk You Can't Use on January 4th

It has only been 3 days since Disney World’s newest hotel perk began, and it will already be unavailable tomorrow, January 4th!

A new Disney World hotel perk will be unavailable tomorrow. January 1st, 2025, marked the start of Disney World’s newest hotel perk, a free waterpark ticket on your check-in day. From January 1st through December 31st, 2025, hotel guests can enjoy a day at a Disney waterpark on their check-in date. We checked out this new perk on January 1st, and we could see how it would be a great way to spend your time before you can get into your hotel room.

However, this new hotel perk will be unavailable tomorrow. Disney World’s water parks close down for certain inclement weather conditions, including when it is too cold outside. Due to cooler temperatures, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will be closed tomorrow, January 4th. Currently, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is closed for scheduled maintenance.

As a result, the water park ticket perk will not be available for guests who are checking into their hotel tomorrow. The benefit is ONLY on the day of check-in and cannot be transferred to a different day. Since the water park won’t be open tomorrow, guests won’t be able to take advantage of this perk. Disney does note on their website that “water parks are subject to extended rehabilitation, seasonal, capacity, and weather closures, or may close for other reasons.”

That means that if you are headed to Disney World when it might be cooler outside, you might want to have a plan B for check-in day, just in case. You can always take a trip over to Disney Springs for shopping and dining, explore your hotel, or use Disney transportation to check out other Disney hotels. There is still lots of fun to be had on your check-in day, even if the water park is closed down!

While the weather will warm up a bit on Saturday and Sunday (January 4th and 5th), Disney World will be getting some much cooler weather at the start of next week. Blizzard Beach is still showing hours next week, but we anticipate that there will be additional closures with the cool weather. We will keep you updated as Disney announces any additional closures!

If you plan on using this water park perk on your check-in day, check for any closures. Also, plan ahead, as your room may not be available when you first arrive. You can store any luggage at your hotel and have a small bag ready for your water park trip. If you don’t need to store any luggage, you can even head straight to the water park without checking in to your hotel. To use your perk, scan your MagicBand, Disney MagicMobile pass, or Key to the World Card to enter the park.

Also, just as a heads up, Universal’s Volcano Bay water park is also closed due to weather on January 4th! We hope everyone is able to stay warm in the coming days.
