Y’all, Christmas came early.

Well, it feels like that anyway. Why? Well, because December 10th marked the official opening of McDonald’s all-new spinoff restaurant — CosMc’s! McDonald’s announced the new eatery back in July 2023, and the day has finally come for the first of 10 locations to open in Bolingbrook, Illinois. We were pretty darn excited from the moment we found out about CosMc’s, but seeing the menu items that we could expect made the anticipation almost UNBEARABLE. We’re headed to try out some menu items and check out the new space, but that’s not even the best part. The best part is that we’re taking you with us!
So, let’s head on over to CosMc’s shall we? Some important things to note is that there is no seating here, only a drive-thru. And, despite the drive-thru, tiis isn’t a “fast food” experience. When we first arrived, there were workers outside directing cars, and the lines weren’t too busy, but they were moving rather slowly. We waited for 20 minutes to get through.
When we finally got to the menu, we were almost overwhelmed by the choices!

After we ordered, we were prompted by the screen to wait as our order was prepared. Look at the little UFO! So cute!

For the food options, we decided to go with two of the sandwiches and two of the snack items, as well as three drinks. Let’s start with sandwiches!

First up, we got the Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwich, which has cheese, avocado, bacon, and egg for $4.99. The bread is nice and soft, the eggs were nice and fluffy, ad the sauce was cilantro and lime-forward with a bit of a kick. It’s pretty good but wasn’t our favorite.

Next up, we got the Spicy Queso Sandwich, which has cheese, sausage, jalapeño slices, egg, and, of course, spicy queso. It’s also $4.99. The bread and eggs are just as good as the first sandwich, and the sausage was pretty good as well. The jalapeño chips/slices gave it a good crunch, too! The texture of the queso sauce is good ad melty on the warm sandwich.

We loved both of the sandwiches, and we expected the snack items to be just as good! First up, we got the McPops for $3.79, which originated at the McDonald’s locations in Spain. We got the mixed bag, which contains hazelnut, apple cinnamon, and cookie butter. We LOVED these!

We also got the Pretzel Bites for $3.99, which you can get with a cup of spicy queso. These were also tasty! They’re exactly what you’d expect from pretzel bites. The cheese was good and had a nice kick. These would be better if the cheese was INSIDE the pretzels.

As for the drinks, we were pretty excited!

First up, we had the Chai Frappe Burst for $5.89. It’s like a chai milkshake with boba pearls inside! The chai was tasty and wasn’t overly sweet, and it almost had a horchata flavor. The chai flavor itself was definitely coming from the boba, which was fun.

Next up, we tried the Popping Pear Slush for $5.39. This is a pear slushy with boba pearls inside. This is so refreshing! We discovered that this was also topped with popping candies, so it’s an odd but fun sensation to have the boba and pop rocks in one drink. This was our favorite drink!

And finally, we grabbed the S’mores Cold Brew for $4.90. This is super syrupy and the cold brew is extremely bitter, which gives the saccharine syrup a horrible aftertaste. It was super weird. We didn’t like this one, unfortunately.

And there you have it! What do you think? Would you try any of these items? We’d recommend it to any of you who already love McDonald’s but also don’t mind getting a bit adventurous and trying new takes on already beloved items.
Oh, and one more thing that we thought was fun: the slogan here is “have a nice sip.” There’s a wall painted with this as you drive out, and the employees said it to us as we were handed our food! How CUTE!
