Why You'll Actually WANT To Wait Hours for Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disney

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up after the end of The Princess and The Frog, where Tiana has successfully opened her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace.

The ride is set to open in both Disney World and Disneyland in 2024, and when it does, chances are there will be a long line — but here’s why you might want to skip using Genie+ at this ride altogether!

The story of this new ride actually starts in the queue, where guests learn that Tiana has also created Tiana’s Foods, an employee-owned cooperative. By combining her talents with the community’s, they’ve turned an old salt dome into a beloved brand.

It’s in the ride’s queue where you’ll first smell freshly baked beignets and really get a feel for the Mardi Gras party you’re about to attend! It was important for the Imagineers to bring the authenticity of New Orleans to the queue, and what’s more authentic than that?

Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana. Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand. (DISNEY)

You’ll also hear new, original music in the queue that will make you want to boogie. According to those working on the ride, there’s “never been a better time to be in the standby line.”

Not only that, but we learn more about Tiana’s relationship with her parents in the queue — what it was like for her father, an African American man, to fight in World War I, and how that shaped who Tiana is today. Maybe we’ll even get to see some Splash Mountain easter eggs throughout the queue and ride!

As depicted in this rendering, Mama Odie jokes with guests along their journey after a special display of her magic in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure coming to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort in 2024. The two-hundred-year-old Bayou Fairy Godmother, with her eccentric belongings and “seeing eye snake,” Juju, is comically eccentric, yet wise and all knowing, throughout the adventure. Legendary actress Jenifer Lewis, who starred as the voice of Mama Odie in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Princess and the Frog,” is once again returning to her role for the attraction. To thank her family and community for all their support, Tiana plans to throw an amazing party during Mardi Gras. However, when it turns out there has been a mix-up with the party preparations, Tiana invites us to join her at Tiana’s Foods to find the missing ingredient for the party!

We’ll have to wait and see more details for ourselves once the ride officially opens in 2024, but until then, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest updates and info! As always, stay tuned to AllEars for more Disney news.
