If you’ve been to Disney World recently, you might have already noticed the supply issues in the parks.

Companies around the world are being affected by the global supply shortage, and Disney is no exception. There’s not quite as much merchandise in the parks as usual, some gift shops are closed, and Disney World is even borrowing certain supplies from Disneyland. Now, there might be another shortage in the parks — and this one’s a biggie.
According to Today, the latest victim of the supply chain shortages is chicken tenders.

Today’s article reasoned that chicken tenders are more difficult and expensive to produce because they are “the smaller fillet of a whole chicken breast,” and thus “require more processing to package and sell than chicken nuggets, which are made of scrap meat from the whole bird.”

So we might see the prices for chicken tenders at grocery stores and restaurants go up in response to the global shortages. It’s possible that this price increase will happen at Disney World too, where you can find chicken tenders on the menus of several different restaurants.

Big chicken restaurants like KFC, A&W, and Hattie B’s Hot Chicken have already felt the effects of the shortage. Some of these restaurants have pulled tenders from their marketing campaigns in an effort to not run out of them.

Today reported an increase in price for chicken tenders in grocery stores by nearly a dollar per pound. But Hattie B’s is reportedly not going to increase prices for their chicken, although the company is having to pay more to provide it.

We took a look at a few popular spots for chicken tenders in Disney World to see if the prices have changed so far. At both Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in the Magic Kingdom and Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can get a 4-strip chicken tender meal for $9.99. You can get five chicken strips (plus two sauces) for $7.99 at Chicken Guy! in Disney Springs. None of those prices have increased very recently, although we did see some price increases on a few chicken dishes at The Fountain (located at the Dolphin Hotel) earlier this month.

We’ll keep an eye on the situation in Disney World and let you know about any updates, so stay tuned with AllEars!
