NEWS: The President of Disney's Hulu Has Resigned

When you think of Disney streaming services, you probably think of Disney+.

However, Disney also controls Hulu after acquiring 20th Century Fox in 2019. A new president was named for Hulu in early 2020, but now, she has resigned from her position.

The president of Disney’s Hulu, Kelly Campbell, has abruptly resigned from her position, according to Yahoo Finance. She made the announcement on her LinkedIn page yesterday.

Campbell wrote, “Four years ago I accepted my dream job when I joined Hulu, and it didn’t disappoint. I worked with the best of the best, in a values driven culture full of the most talented people around. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved together. While I’ve made the decision to move on from Hulu, I’ll forever bleed green.”

All she said about her next move in the post was, “As for what’s next, stay tuned…”

Campbell joined Hulu in 2017 as chief marketing officer, according to Yahoo Finance. She had only been the president of Hulu for 18 months after taking the position when the former president, Kevin Mayer, left to be the CEO of TikTok.

Disney said Campbell’s leaving was “effective immediately” in an internal memo sent out on Monday, obtained by Puck News’ Matthew Belloni. It also said that her direct reports would be working under Rebecca Campbell, the chairwoman of international operations and direct-to-consumer for Disney until a replacement is announced.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Campbell is negotiating to accept a senior position at Comcast’s NBCUniversal, whose direct-to-consumer president, Gidon Katz, recently resigned.

Close associated of Campbell said she had grown frustrated with many of the restructurings around Hulu which caused her to lose some oversight in areas, including content, according to Yahoo Finance.
