In an effort to “flatten the curve” of the current coronavirus pandemic, we have seen closures from Disney Parks around the globe, as well as a halt in production for several Disney projects.

And today, Hulu announced that their Santa Monica headquarters would be temporarily closing after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. In the interim, Hulu employees have been encouraged to work from home.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the move came after an employee began showing symptoms of the disease, which includes a fever and cough. While the employee left the office and self-isolated immediately, the fact that the disease could lay dormant for two weeks while still being contagious means that Hulu did not want to risk the safety of their employees or families. The office is currently being sanitized and employees have been informed of the potential contact and encouraged to self-isolate. Once the office reopens, workers will be encouraged to remain at home until the pandemic passes.

Hulu, which was acquired by the Walt Disney Company in 2019, is the media giant’s more adult oriented streaming service, offering content from 20th Century Studios, as well as original content like The Handmaid’s Tale. Streaming services like Hulu and Disney+ are one of the few divisions of the Walt Disney Company not negatively affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.
