REVIEW: You Won’t BELIEVE the Food We Had At This Exclusive Disney After Hours Event

Disneyland After Dark events are a great way to visit the parks, especially if you want to enjoy the theme of each After Dark event. This year, though, Disney introduced a brand NEW theme for its After Dark events: 70 Years of Favorites.

Bacon Maple Cinnamon Roll

Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites celebrates Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, so it brought back some nostalgic treats, as well as new spins on old classics. So join us as we eat and drink our way around this event.

Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites happened on March 3rd and March 5th. The event included a lot of exclusive activities, entertainment, character meet and greets, and more. It also included exclusive food and drinks, so let’s see which ones we liked or didn’t like.

NOTE: As of writing, tickets are still available for March 5th! Snag them here if you want a unique Disneyland experience.

We started at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to try the Maple Bacon Cinnamon Roll. This is a Cinnamon Roll topped with Maple Cream Cheese, Glazed Bacon and Pecans, drizzled with White Chocolate for $10.99. Honestly, this wasn’t anything too special. The cinnamon roll was dry, which just threw the whole thing off. The best part was the frosting with all its flavors. The bacon added a nice salty flavor that complemented the frosting’s sweetness.

Look at the size of that thing!

Refreshment Corner is serving a twist on its famous bread bowl dishes with the Birria Mac and Cheese in a Bread Bowl. It’s Mac & Cheese topped with Beef Birria, Salsa Verde, Cilantro, and Onion in a Sourdough Bread Boule, served with Consomé for $12.99. The salsa verde on this was so spicy that it made our eyes water, but it got better as we mixed it more into the bowl. The birria was tender with a sweet and savory flavor.  You couldn’t really taste the mac and cheese, but we still really liked this dish.

Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree is serving up Gumbo Fries, made with Cajun Seasoned Beer-battered Fries smothered with Chicken Gumbo, Mozzarella, and Green Onion for $14.99. These are also available at The Golden Horseshoe and Stage Door Cafe. This had the perfect mix of flavors. It was basically a Cajun version of poutine, with light spices. We wished the cheese had been a little more melted, though.

To drink, we went to Red Rose Taverne grabbed the Gaston Brew, a Butterscotch Beverage with Dulce de Leche Topper for $7.79. We weren’t sure we’d like this, but it surprised us. The butterscotch drink was lightly carbonated, and the caramel flavor was light and sweet. This is a great drink for folks who love caramel. This one gave off butterbeer vibes.
