Why You Won’t Be Able to Use This Disney World Hotel Perk Until Summer 2026

Cooler weather has arrived at Disney World, which could be great or awful news depending on your feelings towards sweater weather! While the cooler weather means we can finally wear all our Disney sweatshirts and Spirit Jerseys, it also means that part of Disney World will be temporarily closed.

Typhoon Lagoon

When cold weather moves into Central Florida, the Disney World water parks will close. It makes sense, as we have a feeling not too many people would be there anyway in 40-degree weather. However, it can be disappointing if you had planned a day at the water park or hoped to take advantage of the Disney World hotel water park perk.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be closed due to cold weather on December 30th, December 31st, and January 1st. Currently, the water park is showing hours again on January 2nd. Highs over the next three days are in the high 50s to mid 60s, with lows in the mid 30s.

In 2025, Disney introduced a new water park perk for Disney World hotel guests: free access to a Disney World water park on the day of their hotel check-in. While the perk is sticking around, it will ONLY be offered during the summer season in 2026. That means that December 30th and December 31st were the last two days to use the perk, until it returns in summer 2026. Unfortunately, the cold weather has made the water park unavailable for the last two days of the perk.

Typhoon Lagoon

Disney World has two water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Blizzard Beach is currently closed for maintenance and is expected to reopen on February 15th, 2026. Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to close on February 14th, 2026, for its maintenance.

If you were planning to head to the water park today and are not sure what to do now, there are plenty of things to do without a park ticket! You can head to Disney Springs, hop around the Disney World hotels, do a monorail or Skyliner crawl, enjoy your hotel’s amenities, or take a day for relaxation.
