If you’ve been in the parks recently, you may have noticed a few things that are making certain attractions a little less enjoyable. From physical discomfort to long waits to Florida’s unpredictable weather, there are some challenges popping up across the resort right now. If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom soon, here are three of the biggest problems we’re seeing with rides at the moment.

Space Mountain Is Just… Too Rough

Space Mountain is iconic, but lately, it feels like the ride has gone from thrilling to downright uncomfortable. Anyone who has ridden it recently knows that it’s not exactly the smoothest experience. The track is old, the ride vehicles don’t offer much in terms of comfort, and the jerky movements can leave you walking off rubbing your neck and shoulders.

Over in Disneyland, their version of Space Mountain got a full track replacement in the early 2000s, which completely refreshed the ride and made it much smoother. That change has kept the West Coast’s Space Mountain feeling fun and fast without the body aches. Meanwhile, Disney World’s version still feels like it could use that same level of TLC. The theming is still fantastic, and the dark, space-themed setting is as exciting as ever, but the physical toll takes away from the enjoyment. Until Disney makes that same major update in Orlando, you might want to prepare yourself for a bumpy ride.

The Haunted Mansion Queue Is Brutal Right Now

The Haunted Mansion is always a must-do, but right now, the experience before you even board your Doom Buggy is a little less than ideal. With construction walls up in Liberty Square as Disney works on the new Cars-themed area nearby, the queue for Haunted Mansion feels even more cramped and hotter than usual.

Queues at Disney can already feel long and uncomfortable in the Florida heat, but Haunted Mansion’s current setup doesn’t help. Guests are being funneled into tighter spaces with less airflow, and that makes waiting in line extra tough. Once you’re inside the mansion, the air conditioning is a relief, but the outdoor portion of the line is testing everyone’s patience. Hopefully, once construction wraps up, the queue will feel more manageable again. Until then, be prepared with water and maybe plan your ride earlier or later in the day when it’s not at peak heat levels.

Bad Weather Shuts Down Outdoor Rides

This one is totally out of Disney’s control, but it still stings when it happens. Florida weather is unpredictable, and storms can roll in quickly. When that happens, a bunch of Disney World rides are forced to shut down for safety reasons. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is currently closed for a big refurbishment), and just about any outdoor ride or water ride are all at the mercy of lightning and rain.

Even if it’s just a passing storm, these closures can back up wait times once the rides reopen. Sometimes you’ll find yourself waiting it out, only for the ride to go down for hours. The best way to handle this is to plan your day, knowing that the weather might interfere. Indoor attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world”, or Peter Pan’s Flight can save the day if storms roll in, but it’s still frustrating to see some of the most popular rides suddenly unavailable. It’s a reminder that in Disney World, even magic can’t stop Mother Nature.
