NEWS: Airline Passengers Sue Delta and United Over Broken Window Seat Promises

If you’ve been traveling to Disney World for a while, it’s likely you’ve had to book a flight to Orlando. Well, if you have booked a flight recently, you’ll know that if you have the option to select your seat (an option usually available for an upcharge with most airlines), you can choose a window seat.

Many people prefer window seats for a variety of reasons. Window seats are great for keeping kids entertained, watching the world go by, or giving you something to lean your head against so you can grab a nap on your flight. Well, some airline passengers are suing two airlines over being sold window seats that they claim were windowless.

According to Reuters, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are being sued by passengers who paid extra to sit in window seats, only to end up in seats that did not have windows. The class action suits were filed against United in a San Francisco federal court and against Delta in a Brooklyn federal court. The suits seek millions of dollars in damages to over 1 million passengers.

The lawsuits complain that some planes the airlines use lack windows in specific seats because of the placement of certain components in the plane. The lawsuit also claims that Delta and United do not make these seats known in the booking process, even when charging up to hundreds of extra dollars for them. The lawsuit also points out that people buy window seats for very specific reasons.

The United complaint says: “Had plaintiffs and the class members known that the seats they were purchasing (were) windowless, they would not have selected them — much less have paid extra.” The Delta complaint mentions something similar.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for updates on the lawsuit, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
