What’s Going on with This ABANDONED Disney World Hotel Restaurant?

There are so many restaurants at Disney World that we love, but we can’t help but wonder what is happening with this abandoned one?

Over at Disney’s Boardwalk area, there are some great restaurants to choose from. Whether you want a delicious treat from The Cake Bake Shop or head to Trattoria al Forno for an Italian dinner, you are likely to find something to enjoy. However, there is one restaurant here that has been abandoned for over a year and we’re concerned.

If you make your way down the Boardwalk, you may notice a blank facade. This area was once home to Big River Grille and Brewing Works. Here, you could find beers, burgers, steaks, nachos, and more. Big River Grille brewed its own beer right there in the restaurant!

A third-party company owned Big River Grill, and the closing of this restaurant happened suddenly. It was only announced a few days before its actual closing date on January 22nd, 2024.

This space has been still sitting abandoned for almost a year and a half now, and we are yet to hear about a replacement. We are not really sure why Disney decided to close Big River Grille so suddenly, without any word about what would take its place. We would love to see a new shop or restaurant announced, but we still have not heard anything yet.
