Universal’s NEW Horror Unleashed Attraction Is Getting a SECOND Location

It’s safe to assume we’re all familiar with the Universal Parks! There are Universal Studios Orlando, the brand-new Epic Universe, among others, around the world! Even the  UK is getting a new Universal Park.

But have you heard of Universal Horror Unleashed? It’s an all-new experience from Universal Destination & Experiences for horror fans! We heard about one coming to Las Vegas this summer, but now Universal has dropped news that there will be a second one. Let’s take a look at the details!

Universal Destinations & Experiences will be opening their first-ever Universal Horror Unleashed experience this summer. It’ll be a year-round horror attraction that we’ve never seen before, fully immersing guests into the world of horror movies. The first one is set to open in Las Vegas on August 14th in 2025, and we already have news on a second one before it’s even opened.

Universal Destinations & Experiences will be expanding the Universal Horror Unleashed concept with a second location planned to be in Chicago! Now, guests will be able to access Universal’s year-round immersive horror entertainment experience in two locations in the USA. The new indoor venue was chosen to open in Chicago because of its large population, as well as its popularity as one of the country’s leading destinations for tourism and entertainment.

“Universal Horror Unleashed delivers on our promise to create highly immersive and terrifying horror experiences that connect with fans year-round” stated the President of New Ventures, and Universal Destinations and Experiences, Page Thompson. “We’re excited to bring this bold concept to life in Chicago, a city known for its vibrant culture. We’re grateful for the city’s support as we convert this dormant site into a unique attraction that showcases our storytelling expertise and ability to deliver mind-blowing experiences that shatter guest expectations.”

Universal is hoping to reach new audiences through new and original concepts, with the expansion of their brand-new Horror Unleashed experience. You’ll find the new location on Chicago Avenue at the former Tribune Distribution Center, situated between the River North and West Town districts. Fun fact: This will actually be Universal’s first branded experience in the Midwest.

Universal already has expertise in delivering horror experiences — hello, Halloween Horror Nights! That expertise, combined with their brilliant storytelling, we have no doubt they will deliver an experience unlike any other with this new concept.

Horror Unleashed will bring guests into an immersive, horror-centric entertainment experience, unlike anything they’ve seen before. Expect spine-chilling thrills, terrifying environments, and scares you won’t be able to get out of your head. There will also be a variety of exclusive food and beverage offerings — including themed craft cocktails and bites. Don’t forget about merchandise — there will be a retail location with unique collectible merchandise and more.
