NEWS: CDC Reports THREE New Norovirus Outbreaks on Cruise Ships

We’ve been reporting norovirus outbreaks on cruises since the end of last year, with most of them being in 2025.

Holland America Line

Many cruise lines have been dealing with outbreaks throughout the year, and we have updates on more outbreaks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), three cruise ships have reported gastrointestinal outbreaks.

One of the outbreaks was on the Eurodam by Holland America, which was sailing from April 12th to May 3rd. 140 of the 2,038 passengers reported being ill, which is over 6%. 22 crew members onboard also reported feeling sick during the cruise.

A second Holland America ship, the Zuiderdam, also reported multiple illnesses onboard. This cruise sailed from January 2nd to May 8th, and 55 of the 1,149 passengers and 14 of the 751 crew members reported being sick.

Are you heading on a cruise soon and want to make sure you’re doing everything you can to be safe? Wash your hands with soap and water before and after you eat, use the bathroom, and any other time you’re in a public space. It’s important to note that hand sanitizer is not as effective against the norovirus, so using soap and water is the way to go.

Disney Treasure

Many of our viewers go on cruises through Disney Cruise Line, and the DCL hasn’t reported any norovirus outbreaks onboard.
