Universal has officially confirmed that it is moving forward with its plans to build a new Universal park in the United Kingdom. Yes, really!

Universal confirmed it had plans to build this park back in December 2023, we got an update in August 2024, and now we have concept art and more confirmation that it could really happen! But what could we see at this new park? Well, we don’t know for sure, but a source close to Universal has shared some insights.
According to the BBC, a source close to Universal said that fans could see James Bond, Paddington, and Lord of the Rings represented in the new Bedford theme park, with additional locations and lands inspired by Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Minions. Per BBC’s source, rides and lands inspired by Harry Potter are not currently expected.

This may come as a shock; however, the massively popular Warner Brothers Studio Tour, which includes the Harry Potter Studio Tour, is located close by in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.

Universal Destinations has stated that it’s too early to know what attractions will be in the park, and has not confirmed any of the lands at the potential new U.K. theme park. Construction at Kempston Hardwick, Bedfordshire, is expected to begin in 2026, as long as it reaches its final approval.

The source told BBC that “contracts have been signed” regarding the IP to be featured in the parks, so things would be unlikely to change at this time. The source stated, “At this point it will be little details they tweak, like ‘Let’s use a different shade of paint on that Lord of the Rings castle.'” Still, Universal has not commented on its plans for the theme park yet.

Rides have reportedly been designed, with many of them being indoor attractions, likely taking the UK’s often rainy weather into account. If we take a closer look at the concept art, it looks like some kind of action show is planned for the theme park — could this be connected to the James Bond-themed land proposed by BBC?
