REVIEW: Don’t Miss This Disney World Hotel Lounge On Your Next Vacation

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Luckily, you’ve come to the right place!

Welcome to Disney World!

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney World restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by River Roost at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside and are bringing you our FULL review!

Background

This inviting spot is packed with charm… along with Southern cocktails, a full bar, and an appetizer menu.

River Roost

As this is a lounge, you do not need a Dining Reservation to visit this watering hole. The 2025 Disney Dining Plan is accepted here using 1 Table Service Credit.

The Bar

Atmosphere

This Disney hotel lounge is one of our favorites. It has dim lighting, comfy seating, and a friendly feel. It has a Southern charm to it with dark wood accents and a relaxed energy.

The Bar area

The lounge opens at 5 PM and is open until midnight. The guests might enjoy the food and drinks here, but to be honest, that’s not the main attraction…

Seating

There is a lively piano show that happens at River Roost, and it features Yehaa Bob. When Yehaa Bob plays (typically starting at 8:30 PM, Wednesdays through Saturdays), expect the place to get busy. He is kind of a Disney World legend, and finding a seat can be tricky if you don’t come in advance.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

First up, we grabbed the Pimento Cheese Fritters for $12. This is made with House-made Pimento Cheese Fritters with Pepper Jelly.

Pimento Cheese Fritters

These pimento cheese fritters were golden brown, crunchy on the outside, and filled with a creamy cheese blend on the inside. The texture is perfectly melty, but does firm up a bit as they sit. The pepper jelly adds a little heat to spice things up, and we love it. We think these might be just as good as the ones found at Wine Bar George!

We also tried the Barbecued Wings for $16. This has Smoked Chicken Wings tossed in a Sweet-and-Spicy Barbecue Sauce served with Cajun Fries.

Barbecued Wings

These smoked chicken wings had great depth of flavor—sweet upfront with a slow-burning heat on the back end.

The wings

The cajun fries have some heat as well because of the seasoning, so these with the wings are sure to make anyone looking for lots of flavor happy.

Cajun Fries

To drink, we picked up the Southern Hurricane for $15.50. This is made with Bayou Silver Rum, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Orange, Pineapple, and Lime Juices with Grenadine and a float of Myers’s Original Dark Rum.

Southern Hurricane

This cocktail might leave you a little underwhelmed if you are wanting a delicious, crafted drink. The flavor was pretty standard. It’s a sweet, fruit-forward cocktail you’d find at a chain restaurant. For a lounge, we would love to have cocktails that stood out.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You want something casual. It’s a great place to unwind from the parks.
  • You want some Southern comfort food.
  • If you want to see Yehaa Bob — and of course you do.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You want more crafted cocktails.
  • You are looking for a fancier lounge, like Enchanted Rose.
  • You want something full-service with more food options.

Overall, if you are staying at Port Orleans and are looking for something relaxing to do on your day off, we say check it out. It had good food with large portions, which is great for sharing. But don’t come to this lounge looking for over-the-top cocktails and drinks — the entertainment is what’s over-the-top here.
