Yikes! There’s a lot that goes into your Disney World trip, and we aren’t happy to add this to the mix, but beware of these common travel scams while you’re booking your trip.

These are some of the popular scams we’ve seen, but while you’re planning your trip, a lot can come up that can catch you off guard. Be cautious of any site that asks for your credit card information before you hit submit.
Unpaid Toll Scam
People have been receiving text messages saying they have an unpaid toll with a link asking for their credit card information to pay that fine. Don’t!

If you drive on toll roads while you’re at Disney World, to receive your bill, it should be mailed to your house based on the registration of your license plate! You can then pay with the link in the letter. Don’t respond or click on the links to these texts. If you see the number/email they’re sent from, they should look bogus, too!
Third-Party Sites for Passports and TSA Precheck
Look at you making sure your passport is ready and signing up for TSA Precheck! You’re so on top of things, but wait. Make sure you’re on the right site. A third-party site might offer to submit your information for you, but in reality, they’re stealing your information.

When you search “passport application,” many different websites pop up. You’ll want to make sure you’re going through the correct one. The two sites we recommend are the U.S. Department of State and USPS.com. If you’re still unsure, head to your local post office to ask.

The same thing can happen for TSA Precheck, so check out TSA.gov to make sure you’re heading to the right site.
Third-Party Sites for Hotel Bookings
Another common scam that feels a little harder to avoid is hotel booking sites, where they promise to find you the best deals. There are some great sites out there to help, and some that actually book your room with no issue. If you feel like the deal might be too good to be true, book through the hotel’s official website.

To make sure the website is official, we like to check its social media links at the bottom or find its link in the description of its social media accounts. We also like to pull it up on Google Maps and head to the website linked by the address.

Always be aware and cautious when booking your trip. Now that you have this information, go out and plan the best Disney World trip (with the rest of our AllEars resources, of course). Follow AllEars to stay up to date with everything that will affect your next vacation.
