NEWS: The Exclusive Magic Kingdom Disney Vacation Club Lounge Opens TODAY!

Surprise! Magic Kingdom is getting a new lounge…starting TODAY.

Quincy got to explore the lounge before it opened!

You might remember that last summer the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade permanently closed to make way for a lounge exclusive to Disney Vacation Club members. We’ve been watching construction for months now but as of Tuesday, March 18th, it is open!

The new lounge is called McKim’s Mile House and it is open from 11 AM to 6 PM on its opening day. It’s named after the real-life Sam McKim, an Imagineer who did many of the drawings for Frontierland, a few of which are on the walls.

Welcome!

Since we’re at Disney World, everything has a story, of course! In this storyline, you are stopping in at the McKim’s roadhouse. They still live here and you can see the family’s quarters on the second floor (which is inaccessible to visitors but neat to see from below).

Definitely stop and take in the artwork while you’re here

You’ll even spot some guest names on the doors! These include

  • B.T. Bullion (Barnabus T. Bullion) — character from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • M. Davis (Marc Davis) — Disney Imagineer
  • Hoot the Owl — Originally supposed to be an animatronic on the canceled Western River Expedition attraction

We love the nod to Disney’s history!

Want to visit McKim’s? Access is available to Disney Vacation Club members with Membership Magic access. You can also enter as a guest of a DVC member. DVC members get up to four guests OR if they are staying in a Disney World hotel room, everyone on that reservation.

The decor is everything

Is it worth visiting? Quincy’s first impression is that it is 100% worth going to if you are eligible. It’s super cozy and is the perfect escape from the crowds (and the summer heat coming up)! Thematically it fits right into Frontierland on the inside and outside.

Visitors get access to coffee and Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, tons of seating, WiFi, charging areas, and more. It’s a bummer that this huge space is only open to a select group of people, but we understand the exclusivity of it!

Plenty of seating

A lot is changing over in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom! Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America will be going away to make room for new Cars attractions, and a new Villains Land will be added beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
