Southwest To Add FOUR New Orlando Flights

While Florida may not seem like a very large state, you can drive for hours and only make it about halfway through the state, if that!

This means that sometimes it’s not the most plausible option to drive to another Florida city or take a train. However, it’s oftentimes difficult to find flights to and from cities inside the same state. Southwest is about to make that a LOT easier in Florida with four new intra-Florida routes!

These new routes will connect Orlando to four other Florida cities starting August 2025.

  • MCO to Fort Myers (RSW)
  • MCO to Miami (MIA)
  • MCO to Sarasota (SRQ)
  • MCO to West Palm Beach (PBI)

All of these new flights will operate 2 times a day and join the already existing route of MCO to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

Southwest Airlines

This puts Southwest directly in competition with Frontier Airlines who flies similar routes, according to Aviation A27. It marks a strategic move by Southwest to increase their appeal to local travelers.

Many travelers read this news and feel it’s certainly not going to be more efficient than driving, and while this is true, it’s a great option for people who are unable to drive, get severly carsick, or otherwise prefer to fly.
