It’s practically wintertime in Disney World!
We’ve started to see Christmas decorations pop up around the parks, the gingerbread sculptures are taking shape at several resorts, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts on November 8th. But the biggest clue that it’s about to be winter in Disney World is the giant “blizzard” that just hit one of the water parks!
Blizzard Beach is officially open once again! This winter wonderland-themed water park has been closed since March 17th, while Typhoon Lagoon was open for the summer months. But now the tropical-themed water park has closed for refurbishment while the winter-themed park is open.
Sage and Quincy from AllEars TV headed over to check out the excitement at Blizzard Beach on opening day. The park is open daily from 10AM to 5PM, and we surely got our ski on!
Sage seemed just a little cold during the “blizzard.”
But they both quickly warmed up in the Florida sun!
Blizzard Beach is home to lots of attractions, including a wave pool, Summit Plummet, Tike’s Peak, Toboggan Racers, Melt Away Bay, and more. It’s an exciting water park to enjoy, for sure!
There are snacks, coffee, frozen beverages, and quick-service dining locations to enjoy while you take a rest day from the other theme parks.
Starting in January 2025, Disney World hotel guests will get a free water park ticket to use on the day of their check-in. Since Blizzard Beach is typically the water park open throughout the winter (appropriately timed), you’ll be able to enjoy this park for free when that perk begins!
Since 2020, the two water parks have operated on opposite schedules. Unlike in the past when both would be open in the summer, and one would close in the winter, we now only see one open at a time. Aptly, Blizzard Beach is open in the late Fall and Winter, and Typhoon Lagoon is open in the Spring, Summer, and early Fall. For now, we’ll be enjoying Blizzard Beach while we can!

YAY!!! Finally!
We miss Summit Plummet, the runoff rapids, the lazy river and the huge family raft ride. It’s insane that Disney chooses to have one park open in the cold months and one in the warm, rather than both open in the summer. My family always went to Blizzard Beach 4 – 5 times every summer. Never cared for Typhoon that much, especially since shark reef closed. Maybe we will have warm enough weather to enjoy the best waterpark in Florida. Last year we went once in November right before the temps dropped into the low and mid 70’s, and then when it finally warmed up in Spring, we headed back only to find we missed it by a few days and had to go to Typhoon 🙁
