This may come as a shock, but some Disney+ releases have proven to be more controversial than others.

The latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is the perfect example of this after it proved to be pretty divisive — especially among Star Wars fanatics. Quincy has shared plenty of her thoughts on the matter, but it looks like it may not matter anymore…
After just one season, The Acolyte has been cancelled on Disney+ according to a report from Variety. Lucasfilm has chosen to not continue the series, which followed the rise of the Sith around 100 years before The Phantom Menace.

The Season 1 finale ended on a major cliffhanger and even teased multiple plotlines for Season 2, which is why this does partially come as a shock. Still, The Acolyte was not received well by fans and didn’t quite have the viewership that Disney and Lucasfilm had likely hoped.

Even our own readers were ruthless when it came to their thoughts on this show. One reader gave a simple “It’s awful” while another added “I know garbage when I see it. PASS.” The nicest of the negative reviews said “It was really bad outside of a couple of episodes.”

Star Wars fans are a passionate bunch, and many spin-offs and series have received less-than-stellar reviews after premiering. The Acolyte is just the latest release to garner the same type of attention.

Only time will tell how future Star Wars projects will be reviewed by fans. Skeleton Crew is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year on December 3rd, and while we don’t have many details so far, we’re interested to see how this new series will fare!

The footage features a group of children stumbling across a lost Jedi temple, and it looks like Jude Law is our newest Jedi. Law described the series as a “timeless adventure story in the spirit of the Amblin 80s movies like The Goonies and E.T.”

Nobody hates Star Wars like Star Wars “fans”. Hopefully the show will at least get a proper ending in the form of a movie or special. Having said that, I’m still patiently waiting the fate of Qira from the “Solo: A Star Wars Story” movie from 2018.
