Disney has created many original shows for its streaming platform Disney+

You’ll find Star Wars, Marvel, National Geographic, and more original series on the app. There are also several Disney+ UK originals that are commissioned out of Disney+’s UK office including Extraordinary, Shardlake, and soon Rivals. However, there is one popular show from the Disney+ UK office that is being canceled after just one season.
According to Deadline, despite praise for Sally Wainwright’s Renegade Nell, the series will be canceled by Disney after only one season. Deadline had been told that the show had not reached the Disney+ renewal-based threshold on several metrics. And because of that, the show will no longer run.

Disney stated, “Disney+ Original series, Renegade Nell, will not be returning for a second season on the service. We’re incredibly proud of the world created by Sally Wainwright and lead director Ben Taylor. We’d like to thank them, our production partners at Lookout Point, the entire cast – led by Louisa Harland – and crew for their incredible work on this series, all of whom we hope to work with again in the future.”

The show, which Disney describes as “Nell Jackson, a highwaywoman with superpowers, confronts a plot against the Queen of England,” follows Nell as she realizes her destiny is larger than she ever thought possible. Louisa Harland played Nell Jackson as others in the cast included Adrian Lester, Nick Mohammed, and Joely Richardson.

The cancellation of Renegade Nell follows closely behind the announcement of the BBC Doctor Who spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea which was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con. Many other Disney+ Originals are still available to stream on the app and many are likely still to come.
