The world of Percy Jackson is EXPANDING.

During a panel at the 2024 San Diego Comic, the producers and cast of the hit Disney+ adaptation of the Percy Jackson books announced that a new series regular will be joining the cast for season 2 of the hit Disney+ show.
At the convention, it was confirmed that Daniel Diemer will be joining Percy Jackson & The Olympians as the cyclops Tyson. Diemer will join Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood) as series regulars for season 2, which begins filming in Vancouver over the next few weeks.
While he was not on the in-person panel at the convention, Diemer did appear via a video message. The actor said during the clip, “I am thrilled to step into the extraordinary universe of Percy Jackson & The Olympians. I’ve been a fan of the books since I was ten years old, and it’s a dream come true to be part of this and embark on such an exciting adventure with all the cast and crew — and, of course, the passionate fans. I can’t wait to bring Tyson to life and share this journey with you all.”

Author Riordan added a video message of his own, saying, “Daniel’s enthusiasm and talent bring a whole new dimension to Tyson, and it’s going to be incredible to see him in the second season. I can’t wait for you guys to meet him and welcome him to the Percy Jackson universe.”
According to Disney, the second season of the series will be “based on The Sea of Monsters, the second installment in Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan. Set a year after the events of Season 1, it finds Percy Jackson returning to Camp Half-Blood—only to find his world turned upside down. Percy realizes his friendship with Annabeth is changing; he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.”

The first season of Percy Jackson & The Olympians was released in December of 2023, and the series was renewed for a second the following February. The book series of the same name that the show is based on launched in 2005 with The Lightning Thief, and saw its most recent installment — Wrath of the Triple Goddess — released in 2024.

A new face is joining the cast of Percy Jackson &The Olympians for the popular Disney+ series’ second season. Stay tuned to AllEars for further coverage of Disney’s SDCC announcements.
