Universal Orlando’s New DreamWorks Land Is Now Open!

“What’re you doin’ in my swamp?!”

Universal Orlando

If you read that as Shrek in your head, you’ve come to the right place! If you’re a fan of Universal, you’ve probably been keeping up with the latest news including the brand new area — DreamWorks Land. We’ve shown you inside the land during an early preview but we’re back now that it’s ready for its grand opening!

DreamWorks Land is open at Universal Studios as of June 14th, 2024! We’re pumped to see this new land in action with a ride, meet and greets, and the infamous Shrekzel, of course!

We’ll have to say that we are still really impressed with DreamWorks Land. It feels less like an overlay (which is how Minion Land kind of feels) and more like a fully realized setting. The three different areas in the land also feel really distinct, but still go well together. The DreamWorks Imagination Celebration is a great way to start the day here — it showcases all your favorite DreamWorks characters, like Shrek and Donkey.

The show also features Trolls, among other characters.

There are SO many character interactions, too, which we love.

You’ll also find some fun interactive areas like Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres, King Harold’s Swamp Symphony, and Mama Luna Feline Fiesta (which is, obviously, a must for cat lovers).

Of course, we did pick up another Shrekzel, and it was DELICIOUS. It was soft and buttery, and the green cheese might look a little gross, but it’s exactly the kind of cheese you want with a pretzel. It’s sort of like plastic cheese, and we’re here for it.

We also loved the Trolls Ice Cream cones at Troll’s Treats. They’re so cute, but not too over-the-top. Also, the flavors are unique, like huckleberry and pink lemonade. We grabbed the Poppy Ice Cream Cone and it tastes like a frosted lemonade mixed with a lemon meringue pie. It’s sweet and creamy and not too tart. On a hot day? This is what you’ll want to get.

We didn’t get to hunt down a lot of hidden details in DreamWorks Land, but the outhouse slide farts pretty loudly.

Plus if you ask Pinocchio for a fact he lies every time (of course, he does). Then his nose grows.

Po Live! is like Turtle Talk with Crush at EPCOT where Po teaches you kung fu. It was cute and interactive, but we noticed it’s definitely geared more towards kids.

We got the singing frogs at King Harold’s Swamp Symphony to say “bud-wei-ser” by jumping on the right lilypads. Now, we’re not sure they’re SUPPOSED to do that, but we thought it would be funny (it was).
