Brightline Announces Partnership With Princess Cruises — And It’s a Gamechanger!

We’ve been very impressed with the Brightline train service at Orlando International Airport ever since we had a chance to take a train from Orlando to Miami.

It certainly makes traveling around the state easier, but Brightline just announced a new partnership with Princess Cruise Line that could make it more convenient to get to your next cruise.

Brightline held an event today to announce this new partnership, which is being called “Rail to Sail.” Brightline guests booked on Princess Cruises will be able to check their luggage at the Brightline train station in Orlando, take the train to Fort Lauderdale, and have their bags delivered directly to their stateroom on Princess Cruises sailing from that port for $35 per bag. Princess will offer free transportation from the Brightline train station to Port Everglades. In honor of the new service, a Brightline train was unveiled with a Princess Cruise theme.

This almost sounds like the now-defunct Disney’s Magical Express, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because the current president of Princess Cruise Line, John Padgett, is a former Disney executive who was heavily involved in the Magical Express. This is an innovation, though, and something that hasn’t been done yet in the cruise industry.

Take Brightline to your next Princess Cruise!

In November, Princess Cruises will start sailing out of Port Canaveral. The company plans to offer a similar service for South Florida residents who want to take the Brightline North train to Orlando to board a cruise at Port Canaveral. Brightline also recently announced that it’s building a station in Cocoa, Florida, which will make this even more convenient for South Floridians.

Princess Cruises also announced a special deal: anyone who books a Princess Cruise before May 5th can get up to $150 in credit, which could more than cover the cost of the Brightline train from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale.
