It has been a bit of a crazy day in Disney World.

Good Friday started off with Genie+ selling out for multiple parks, Individual Lightning Lanes selling out, and a popular Magic Kingdom roller coaster closed. Now, it appears that crowds wll have a more difficult time leaving Magic Kingdom this evening, as well.
Both lines of the Monorail –– the Express Monorail that runs from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation Ticket Center, and the Resort Monorail that runs from the Magic Kingdom to the Monorail resorts — were not in operation at 5PM on Friday, March 29th. UPDATE: As of 6PM, the Express Monorail was running, but our ride to the Magic Kingdom was full of starts and stops, and we were told a Monorail in front of us was “power cycling.”

The only way to travel between the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center at this time is the Ferryboat. In addition, buses are running between the Magic Kingdom and monorail resorts — including the Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort, and Contemporary Resort.

In addition, there have been many notable ride closures today, including:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has been down the entire day, so far.
- Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin was down with a cleared queue this morning.
- Space Mountain is currently down.
- Frozen Ever After cleared the queue and was down for a few hours today.
- Test Track has been down for about 40 minutes.
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been down for at least an hour.
- Gran Fiesta Tour is currently down.

Because of all the rides that are down, standby wait times continue to rise in Disney World for the rides that are open — we usually see them start to decrease in the evening.
We understand that if you are in Disney World right now, this could be a frustrating situation. Our best advice is to try to enjoy the atmosphere, live entertainment, and other fun you can have, even if you are unable to ride your favorite ride today. As we often say, “A bad day in Disney World is better than a good day somewhere else!”

If you’re staying through the weekend, this might be a good night to enjoy some activities in your resort or at Disney Springs, and try some of these rides again on another day.

Far past time to properly invest in the upkeep of WDW’s and Disneyland’s aging parks’ infrastructure.
WDW is the cash cow that provides funds to everything else yet receives too little in upkeep compared to the amount going to other Disney parks around the world and other divisions of Disney’s overall movie/entertainment business.
Guests pay far too much to be in the WDW parks and stay at Disney’s on property hotels there to receive this lowered level of availability of rides, attractions and transportation.
For what they charge you to enter the park, EVERYTHING should be working. I pity the overseas tourists that spent money to get to Disney world!!!!
