Why Disney Adults Are Freaking Out Right Now

Okay, everyone, it really IS happening.

Things are starting to move forward for that Freaky Friday sequel. Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in the original movie has been bugging Disney about it and has been telling us it was going to happen. The project was officially confirmed by Disney and now, Curtis’ co-star, Lindsey Lohan, has confirmed that she will be returning for the sequel!

According to People, Lohan is excited to be returning to her Freaky Friday role. In the original film, she played a teenager, Anna, who gets caught up in a magical spell that switches her body with that of her mother. Hilarity ensues as the two discover a new appreciation for each others’ lives.

Lohan said that the new movie is “in the process,” although there isn’t a set date for filming to begin. However, she mentioned how excited she is to work with Curtis again “and see how much further we can take it.” Lohan also mentioned that she’s talking “almost every other day” with Curtis and they’re both thinking that the sequel is going to be “a lot of fun.”

We previously learned the script would be written by Elyse Hollander. Previously, Lohan had reiterated that she and Curtis were excited about making a sequel, but also said, “We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”

So it sounds like things are moving forward with the sequel, although there isn’t even word that a script has been completed yet. However, considering the commitment of these two actresses, to quote Curtis, “it’s going to happen.” We only hope it happens sooner, rather than later.

Freaky Friday is Disney’s third film adaptation based on the novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers. This version, though, has proven to be the most popular adaptation.
