Carnival is adding a new Excel-class ship to its fleet. Carnival currently has three other Excel-class ships under its Carnival banner, the Mardi Gras, the Carnival Celebration, and the Carnival Jubilee. This is the fourth Excel-class ship for the Carnival brand. However, across the cruise line brands that Carnival owns, including Princess Cruises, this is the 10th Excel-class ship for the company.
What sets these ships apart is that they run on liquefied natural gas, a fuel that burns cleaner and will help the cruise line reduce its carbon emissions. This is also how Disney Cruise Line built the Disney Wish.

According to a press release, the new ship will weigh 180,000 tons and will be able to carry 6,400 passengers.
“Our Excel-class ships have been a tremendous addition to the Carnival fleet and proven very popular with our guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “As the world’s most popular cruise line, this new ship enables us to continue the growth of our incredible fleet as we welcome our loyal guests back to cruise more frequently and attract new-to-cruise guests to experience all that a Carnival cruise has to offer.”
Carnival does not yet have a name for the new ship, but the ship’s maiden voyage is set for sometime in 2027. The new ship will be the 28th in the brand’s fleet.
Where will the new ship leave from on it’s Maiden voyage? Would like to be on it!
