Marvel fans may recognize the line, “Hey, big guy, the sun’s getting real low.” If you’re unfamiliar, the “big guy” we’re referencing here is the Incredible Hulk. So, what’s the latest news on this beloved green hero?
Marvel fans have long wondered about Hulk’s fate — especially with so many new Marvel movies and shows on the way. Now, we have an update on what the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could look like. Hulk fans, you might want to listen up!
In an interview held at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Mark Ruffalo revealed some hard truths about the Hulk and what the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has told him.
In the interview, Ruffalo notes that during a conversation with Kevin Feige, Feige was asked what he would do with Hulk’s character should he receive a solo film.
Ruffalo stated that he would flesh out his character from a “raging maniac to a sort of integrated character,” to which Feige replied, “We’ll do it in four movies,” according to IGN. Throughout the rest of the interview, Ruffalo explained that Feige told him he’s not getting a solo movie.
Ruffalo said, “We’ll never give you a stand-alone Hulk… don’t mean to burst your bubble… but that’s not happening,” per IGN. Ruffalo’s next movie is Captain America: Brave New World, so mark your calendars now!
We still don’t know what Hulk’s part in the new Captain America movie will look like, but either way, it’ll be interesting to see where the Marvel Universe goes from here.

Feige’s decision is likely based around Universal Studios (referring to the movie-making arm of the company) still owns the movie rights to Hulk. For a stand-alone Hulk film, some sort of deal would need to be fleshed out like Disney does with Sony for any Spiderman films.
The Incredible Hulk film that is part of the MCU did not do so great at the box office way back in 2008, but it also did not star Ruffalo in the title role.
